Tips for Goal Setting

The key to setting goals is to ensure that they are S.M.A.R.T.: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Here are a few other suggestions for harnessing the power of goals and making the most of your Challenge:

Tell everyone about your goals. That way they are real to those around you, and your friends, family and co-workers can hold you accountable.

Set more than one goal. In addition to losing weight, what about clothing sizes? Do you want to be able to run to the park with your kids? Run a 5K at the end of your Challenge? Tackle a new project at work? Think outside the box and brainstorm. Get creative and write your aspirations down!

Tips for working from home

Tips for working from home

FOR MANY BUSINESS owners, working from home can bring efficiency, reduce overhead and create more time to spend with family. The downside: distractions.
*Have a designated work area. Forget the kitchen table-have a room with a door to call your own. Train your family to know you are unavailable when the door is closed.
*Keep set hours. It can be e asy to take a few hours off in the afternoon, then work till midnight. The problem is that this can lead to you working to many hours or not enough, resulting in either exhaustion or a lack of business growth. Try to keep your hours in line with the rest of your industry.

Title Insurance:

During the real estate transaction (especially if you're a first-time buyer), you're hit with so many foreign terms, fees and requirements your head spins. One of those strange and unfamiliar costs is title insurance. In most cases, borrowers have no option—either you get title insurance (among other requirements) or you don't get a loan.

The lender says you need it, you want the loan to go though, so you buy title insurance. Great. So what is title insurance?

When you buy a home you want to make sure that the people selling it actually have full and legal title. The party who conducts closing will check this out by going down to the local property records office to research the history of ownership.

THE 1031 Exchange Rule

A property transaction can only qualify for a deferred tax exchange if it follows the 1031 exchange rule laid down in the US tax code and the treasury regulations.

The foundation of 1031 exchange rule by the IRS is that the properties involved in the transaction must be "Like Kind" and Both properties must be held for a productive purpose in business or trade, as an investment.

Assertiveness

If you're like most people you tend to be fairly indirect about expressing your feelings and needs. Perhaps as a child you were taught it was self-centered to talk about yourself. Maybe you're afraid to be direct, fearing people will be put off or you will run into conflict.

You blow up when someone disappoints you or you don't get your way. You don't want to let people treat you unfairly and you let them know it but with regret later on.

What is assertiveness?

Stress

Deadlines... Meetings... Family Responsibilities… Demanding Boss... the result is Stress and Stress is bad for you and your family. Read on to understand what is stress, its cause & effects and how to cope up with stress with the stress management tips.

The lifestyle that we live today is very different to what we used to live 5 – 10 years ago. Today with the advent of Internet and globalization humans are expected to perform 24/7. I personally call this the evolution as E-Era, where-in Darwin’s Theory of "Survival of the fittest" is applicable. With the ever increasing demands from bosses, competition and family, we are bound to undergo tremendous pressure and stress. The effect of stress is fatal to a human and could result in stroke or a heart fail

What is stress?

Need to value yourself

Do you feel that people don’t value you or don’t take you seriously? Do you feel the urge to let people know that you exist in this world and want to get noticed?

I am writing this article in conjunction to having a talk with my friend and his prime complaint was that no body values him and his work. Not exaggerating, but he would use the phrase "People don’t appreciate me" after each complaint. He was so depressed and broken that he decided to quit his job in search for a place where his work would be appreciated and he would be respected.

Persistence and determination

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Fears

We are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Maybe some of your fears are brought on by your own experiences, by what someone has told you, by what you've read in the papers.

Some fears are valid, like walking alone in a bad part of town at two o'clock in the morning. But once you learn to avoid that situation, you won't need to live in fear of it. Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally destroy our ambitions. Fear can destroy fortunes. Fear can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can destroy our lives. Fear is one of the many enemies lurking inside us. Let me tell you about five of the other enemies we face from within.

FIRST ENEMY - Indifference

It's a decision or choice

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably coifed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. "I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old Having just been presented with a new puppy.
