Dean Graziosi Weekly Wisdom #192 - Worst Case Scenarios

This week Dean reveals how he fell into old habits and let negative thoughts take control of him for three long days. Then he remembered a techniques he used to use that always resolved the problem. This is so simple you won't believe it, but if peace of mind and solving problems is important to you...you won't want to miss this. The technique he shares will shut destructive thoughts down in a snap...Enjoy!

Thanks Dean !!!

Like everyone else I think about the negetive things and the worst that could happen, so it causes a lack of sleep or some times it causes me to not stay focused on the more important task at hand. I will try your advice.
Thanks for those weekly wisdoms Dean !

Thanks Dean

It is too easy to focus on one issue instead of the whole picture. Sometimes we do really forget how easy it is to fall into the trap.

Ironically, I too am going through something similar.

Thank you for reminding me that I have fallen back to the darkside so I can change the way I'm looking at it...

Thanks Dean!!

Another great Weekly Wisdom!!! I will start writing things down immediately!! I always take your great advice to heart!

Constantly Going thru that

I realize today the reason things go bad is that you probably did something wrong that you may have overlooked. You have to go over every detail in life to mature and make sure mistakes don't happen or even occur again.

Reminder

I use to wake up in the middle of the night and write a note to deal with the day JOB issues. I'm way past letting the day job issues stress me out now, but the RE issues do. Thanks for the reminder

I am just amazed at your weekly wisdom as I had a similar experience last night so I was kind of amused. I was rehearsing and over-analyzing some RE concerns and questions and was leading the cart before the donkey. "Thank you" for sharing!

Sometimes....

Dean, excellent thought today!

Additionally, sometimes the worst case scenario is that you end up staying right where you are now. If you're already experiencing a worst case scenario, taking immediate action can only help you to turn things around.

"Totally Fulfilled " book

Thanks for the reminder Dean! I just finish reading your book "Totally Fulfilled" and it helped defined my "WHY" even better. The worst case scenario was covered in your book and it was an eye opening for me as well. I use to do this all the time and forgotten it until I read your book. I too was loosing sleep over something and I laughed when I read the part that it's not the end of the world, you are so right about that. I was loosing sleep over nothing. Thank you Dean.

Great Reminder- Smacked your Forehead, huh?

I love those Duh! moments. We know better, and we have no time for hampster wheel thoughts, no too efficient. Thank you for sharing, once again, your real life situations to teach us.

Years ago, I was going one of those awful (but great learning experiences) and I took the one of many jumps I would eventually make into the unknown with the thought, "What's the worst thing that can happen? That we loose the house? That would be bad, but I'd live in a tent if I had to as long as I had my family with me; that's all that really matters".
That was a liberating moment. From that minute, I felt quite fearless.

Fast forward t starting RE last year, I realized I was actually scared to make that first call to RE Agent. It took me 2 days to make the call and I had to ask myself what's the worst thing that happen? Nothing. Then I made the call and I was like, Duh! I know more than he does -)

The fear was gone again.

Thank you Dean for teaching us an amazingly strong lesson, again!

Great lesson - great tool

Hi Dean,
I went though exactly some of that over the last couple of days. Mind spinning around and around! All awesome exciting stuff, but it kept me up. So I wish I had utilized that tool, instead of losing sleep. Anyway I just finished an awesome Training with Deno Fabrizio and John Gifford in Boise. Signed up for the Platinum Program, as I realized how important it is to have a mentor. This weekend they taught me how to change my (consumer) mindset to an investor mindset, and what the difference is. After having wasted a year, and getting sucked in by life, taking on too many other projects, I am now fully recommitted to dedicating my energies to being an investor. The best part is, I got my husband on board this time. Can't wait to start the Boots on the Ground Trainings. Thanks a million!

ONLY 3 DAYS?

Dean, I feel for you and am apprecitive under your stress you still dig in to encourage us. I will try that. I am such a looser it feels like worse case scenario for me about 80% of the time if not more. I can't imagine you with troubles. I guess money can't solve all your problems. Maybe in our next life we will have this world of no problems. By the grace of God. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dean is a true man of wisdom !

Dean thanks for the wisdom this week. I realize I have done this my entire life and it usually keeps me stuck! Lately, that means I'm on the outside looking in. But thanks to your lastest gift to me (which is actually an older book of yours) I am learning that all of this knowledge without action means nothing! I'll still be stuck! I know, I know. You only been saying it like forever! But I finally stopped creating "what if" scenarios and joined the Academy! that's huge for me because the negativity bug had started before I had finished enrollment!! But it's done and I am doing my homework. I refuse to let my job kill me or not become the One I was meant to be!! Thank you!

Ogal

Thanks for sharing

As always, thank you for your insight Dean. I am certain your suggestion is much better than drinking a glass of wine when I cannot sleep as my mind is just racing too much. I will certainly give your method a try.

You mentioned your book '30 Days to Real Estate Cash'; we still don't have a specific forum topic for this book under the category Dean's Books; can you get your people to establish one??

Looking forward to EDGE 2013!

I have also been through some struggles and dark times (bankruptcy, divorce, preforclosure) and I also have learned to keep positive and focused. I don't use your method exactly but something like it..write it down, think it through, use scripture to center myself, and make a plan, be willing to accept the outcome and move ahead. Thanks for an awesome WW!

Thanks Dean, Great Advice!!

I was just reading a book I got at the library by Dale Carnegie called "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living".( My subconcious mind must of known I needed this book!)

He goes on to say that reading this book could change the whole course of your life by:
1. Showing you how to break the worry habit.
2. Teaching you mental attitudes that will lead to inner security and happiness.

How Benjamin Franklin Conquered Worry

The book quotes a true story about a letter written by Benjamin Franklin to a friend, written in September 19, 1772.

Ben Franklin basically says to his friend that he takes a piece of paper and draws a line down the middle making two columns. Writing over the one Pro, and over the other Con. When he has them together in one view he says, "I endeavour to estimate their respective weights".

Dean, Great Advice as usual. Ben Franklin himself would concur with what you advised.

Sure sounds like Wisdom to me. Thank you Dean!

Dean I needed this

Worse case scenario is a "I win and/or I win" deal.
Thanks again!

WOW!

Thanks Dean,

Great words of wisdom. This is just another positive thing that I can do to help me accomplish and achieve my goals. I plan on putting and taking action. Please keep doing what you do Dean, your are truly the real deal!!! Thank you for remembering the bridge that brought you over and allowing that to motivate you today to do what you. And, thank you for reaching back helping those who were/are in similar situations and not using your knowledge to take the poor money and give nothing in return, but actually giving showing and telling us how to go from broke to stable to rich if we choose. On a personal note, thank you for helping me think outside of the box, and realizing that the poor mentality can be destroyed and I am in control of my thoughts and actions. All the other guru's could learn a lot from you Dean.

God Bless You

Thanks Dean !!

As always, we love the inspiration. Dean, I need some help in understanding this program, I am a Success Academy student for 18 months now, and I just can't seem to get this moving ???
I'm not very good in speaking to people, and wondering how or where to get some help in doing so ?? The advisors have given me some things to try, but so far no success, anything you can suggest, or is there other help in your program that I can get and possibly make payments on ?? I am laid off from work, and have very little money to operate on, but I do have time to put in, please send any thoughts or suggestions that you think would get me moving !!

Thanks,
John Battaglia

IT Works

Thanks Dean for the great blogs with helpful informaton.

This may not be true for

RD2Invest1980's picture

This may not be true for everybody, but for me in my life I have found out that the thoughts of the worst case scenarios almost NEVER happen. Its true what they say, the mind is the real battlefield and if you can conquer something in your mind then you can conquer it in life! As you said we have to overcome the negative thoughts and if for some reason the worst does happen it is not the end of the world. Too many of us think it is the end of the world if the worst does happen, but if you learn from it then it is just ammunition to keep on moving!

Weekly Wisdom response

maaschild's picture

Greetings Dean and all,
I have been following the Weekly Wisdom posts for a few months now, but have never responded. Just want to say how much I appreciate the time and thought you put into these. Ruminating thoughts are a big energy-drain, and part of our human suffering that we CAN do something about!
Thanks for this simple and lovely reminder of how to exorcise the negativities that blocks our path. Today I will expirament with your exercise!
