Dean Graziosi Weekly Wisdom #209 - Use Action and Hope to Trump Tragedy and Regret

This Weekly Wisdom is pretty intense. You'll hear about what the DG Family is doing for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, but Dean also has a true story of how he almost lost his stepfather just days before this was filmed.

You'll hear how a freak medical emergency that almost proved to be fatal, resulted in a conversation that was so profound, we all need to pay attention to it.

Life can be tragic, we all do things we may regret, but there is something you can do right now...today, to emerge victorious and hopeful. Call it "uncommon wisdom."

Thank you for the reminder

Thank you for the reminder to embrace every moment of this life. You never know when your time is up.
I lost my father-in-law earlier this year, and I am still grieving. Had I known then (years before he passed away) what I know now, I would have been a more loving and supportive daughter-in-law.
Love your messages, Dean, and love the person that you are.
God bless you.

Your Step Dad

Hi Dean,

My prayers are with you and your family. That had to be a devastating ordeal! Thank God Lenny pulled through it. I am so grateful that you were among great doctors who were able to perform a successful surgery. We never know why God lead us to places. Although the trip was intended to be a family vacation and b-day for your daughter, perhaps a more devine intervention was for you all to have the perfect doctor for the many lessons that came out of that trip.

I also pray strength for your mom and step-dad!!
You are an awsome son (& mentor)!

Thanks for continuing to encourage us, I have to get moving so that I won't have to live with regrets. I plan to have a success story for you soon!

Ready for Every Season

The first thing I thought about when your father became gravely ill was how prepared you were monetarily.I'm very glad that you were able to help set the stage for your stepfather's recovery.

It's a great joy to see someone's life be positively affect through liberal giving.

THANKS DEAN

I AGREE,tell who ever have wrong you or you have wronged get that behind you and move forward because once there gone you cann't say anything to change that.thanks DEAN for all you do and i knew you was going to donate more because that's the type of person you are keep doing what you doing and don't change who you are for anybody later.

Blessings

Thank you for sharing your story. I pray that your stepdad has a speedy and remarkable recovery and going forward that your family spends more quality time together. Thank you for your generous contribution to the victims of hurricane Sandy on our behalf. I haven't been here for a long time and this was the first thing I watched. omG all I can say is I didn't even get half way through this video and the tears just started to pour down. Dean, do you realize that if that would have happened at any other time in your step-dad's life, he may not have pulled through???! I mean, everything that took place and that had to come together for you all to be there together...All I can say is wow.. just wow. And, I'm glad he made it! How's he doing now??

Another thing I wanted to say was that just yesterday, I mean JUST YESTERDAY, I opened up a Word document on my computer and started typing all of the names of people that I had been thinking about lately, and who I might want to look for online or somehow, and contact them. One person in particular was a good friend of mine years ago, she stood up in my wedding, I stood up in hers, etc. Anyway, we had a falling out about 15 years ago, and her name popped into my head. I thought, nah, she hurt me, and I didn't type her name down. THANKS Dean!! for nudging me back to reality. Her name is now on that list.. Your videos are ALWAYS pertinent! No matter how long I stay away..

Anyway, hi to everyone else and I hope everyone's doing well. Sorry for what's happened on the East Coast, and kudos to Dean and the family for contributing. I love you guys.

Moving forward

Hi Dean Best wishes for you step dad and mother in there road to recovery. Thanks for the support for the victims of sandy in what your able to do. I'm working toward that same goal of being able to help others with that kind of support. Isn't true the more you help others the more it comes back to you.
I think everyone can look at what we haven't done with regret and to think about what we do in our regular life that takes away from what we would like to say or do to get us to where we want to be.
I look forward to next weeks WW.

Dear Dean, there is a thin thread between being here and not. It's a precious gift and we often take it for granted. Your thoughts are so on the money. We here in Mexico also do alot for those without, so your words are uplifting.
God Bless,

DG FAMILY ACTION BY DEAN

Mr. Dean, we all can learn something from your efforts to help folks you don't know but care very much for. I think we can also especially relate to your family scare while on vacation, I wish you all well and thanks for sharing with us.

Hello Dean. I'm learning spanish. I'm sorry that happened to your dad and glad he recovered. Thank you for reminding me that life can give you a good slap and wake you up to what is really important in this life. With 2 jobs and working with you guys in real estate keep me very busy. Sometimes you don't realize what is going on around you. Feel free to "slap me" from time to time to keep me grounded. You are the reason I am apart of this. I see it in your heart and by your actions. I have always told my children to " believe what someone tells you, but if their actions don't line up with what they say, always believe what they do. Because a persons actions speak louder than their words. Thank you again Dean and the Family. Sincerely,
Todd Johnson/Graziosi

Good reminder

Just know watched this and was so moved. And a good reminder to keep our lives in perspective.
Had stopped at the store this morning and the clerk was putting up a display of candles for Christmas. I mentioned how pretty it was and she asked if I wanted to buy one. I said "no. I haven't celebrated Christmas for at least 20yrs now." The guy behind me said he agreed, just not into all the stuff.
My reply was. "Neither was my family, that is why we bought only a small gift for each other, then had to bake things for each other instead. But I don't celebrate because either they have passed away, and my sisters are out of state, and my daughter doesn't waste her time with me. So I just think of it as another day, except for what the real purpose of Christmas is." The clerk strongly agreed and the guy said, I'm alone too.
So cherish who is in your life, and another point from Dean. Our prosperity isn't just for what we can have, but for who we can all help.

powerful

Your comments were so personal and very powerful. God bless to you, your family and most importantly, your step dad, Lenny.

Today's Wisdom

Dean, Thank you for the reminder about keeping in touch. I have actually already renewed two relationships that I would have had regrets about. This message was an inspiration for me and my family. Thank you!! By the way I am just completing a remodel on a repo property that I will make around $200,000 on. I appraised for $900,000.00 and we will be selling it for $500,000. We bought it for $131,000 and have another $180,000 in the remodel. Thank you for your inspiration and Matt and Greg's helping us understand the formulas for success. We have purchased 4 other properties and will be continuing to move forward. Again, Thanks! Tim & Brandon Peak

Thanks Dean for always being so transparent with us! It really is those little things that make life worth living. Family, friends, helping others etc. Money just can't take the place of the little things in life!

Sending your Step Dad my prayers

Sending your Step Dad my prayers for a full recovery and long life without regrets. This week's widsom had me in tears. Touched me so much. Thank you again for your generosity in the donation to Sandy victims. Also, from experience I know you are so right about people soon forgetting that the need continues for months and even years. If you can keep some limelight on the situation it will be a blessing.
You are awesome!!

Dean your weekly wisdom videos are amazing. Instead of always thinking and being negative you always know how to turn it around and give someone like me hope. I appreciate that, truly. I always tell myself that I do not want to live in regret, my father is like that and I don't want to walk in that same path, as much as I love that man. Thank you for the time you take to motivate and help me see life in a different perspective. God bless you.

Regret Not!

Valiant's picture

Very inspirational.

I lost my Dad on OCt 15th of this year and I regret that I was not able to attend his funeral because of lack of transportation (my car broke down two weeks prior).

This will never happen again!

I will take such drastic action to ensure that I am always available for my family and love ones.

Today (11/15) I was able to get my ride back together. For five 1/2 weeks I worked outside and in the dirt and mud to replace my car's engine, alone. Today (after a long struggle with the elements, car, and myself) I finally drove it. I am test riding it for a day to check for leaks and the unexpected and tomorrow I will go to see my Mom and visit my Dad's burial site.

I feel your grief and sorrow and understand where you are coming from Dean. Best wishes and hope all is well.

Praise be to your generosity in donating to the Sandy victims. Wish I could do more to help. Not now, but I plan on being better prepared in the future.

HEART STRINGS PULLIN'...........

My heart goes out to anyone who was involved with the disaster of SANDY, and you too DEAN, for the stuff you went through with your stepfather....it was great that in his time of what could have been-all about what was going on with him- that he did take the time to tell you those wonderful things....what a great man for him doing that for, and to you.
Today is the one year anniversary of one of my sisters' death (cancer). she was one of eleven of us.
In a time when things are not in a good place for me, I hope things turn out well for you and your family.....as well for the east coast.

FOR BETTER WISHES, ERSIE

WOW...Thanks for sharing Dean. Prayers for your step-dad. Hoping he has a full and speedy
recovery. Wishing strength for your mom. I am going to contact my step-daughter. We lost her dad 3 years ago. (The love of my life.) We have drifted apart, and my thoughts went directly to her during your weekly wisdom. God bless you, Christine

Dean, you're . . .

Carl_USN's picture

. . . the antithesis of corporate figure heads. I've encountered no one else in your position who behaves and conducts themselves towards their business like you do. Thank you for being who you are, what you believe in and what you stand for. In my opinion, these things are most likely why your step-father has such a high regard and love for you. Thank you for presenting the ability for people like myselt to be part of this and become involved in helping others in the long term.

i am glad your step dad is going to be ok i to have just recover from a work injury an i going to bring your s a in the first of dec

First things first ...

I hope your daughter had a great birthday! Smiling

What a blessing that you took your extended family on that trip; you could have been sharing a very different story with us this week!

You really embrace an idea that I hold dear ... every experience is both an opportunity to learn and an opportunity to teach.

Like everyone who comes back to this site every week, I truly appreciate the teaching moments you inspire us with, based on your personal experiences.

This weeks' lesson: 'don't live a life with regrets' is especially inspiring.

As always, thank you for all the time and effort you put into this site and into the DG Family. Smiling

Angela
