HELPFUL WEBSITES TO CHECK VALUES AND OTHER INFO

Good Morning,

As I am always interested in the success of others,
I would like to share some helpful websites. As an appraiser I realize one mistake a new investor can make is in the valuation process. There are ways of checking the value yourself if you know where to look. I have access to the MLS records so it's easy for me but you can go on Zillow but don't depend on the value they suggest. Check the neighborhood comps yourself. Please know I'm here for you and want to help if you get confused.

SMART Goal Setting: A Surefire Way To Achieve Your Goals

I encourage you to pick up a pen and a piece of paper and jot down the goals you want to reach. Look at each goal and evaluate it. Make any changes necessary to ensure it meets the criteria for a SMART goals:
• S = Specific
• M = Measurable
• A = Attainable
• R = Realistic
• T = Timely
Specific
Goals should be straightforward and emphasize what you want to happen. Specifics help us to focus our efforts and clearly define what we are going to do.
Specific is the What, Why, and How of the SMART model.
• WHAT are you going to do? Use action words such as direct, organize, coordinate, lead, develop, plan, build etc.
• WHY is this important to do at this time? What do you want to ultimately accomplish?
• HOW are you going to do it? (By…)

The winning mindset

Are you unhappy when others are succeeding? Does your success seem dependent on someone else’s failure?

“Keeping up with the Joneses” is an expression that is commonly used to describe the attitude of always wanting to keep up with the neighbours in terms of possessions and wanting to have the things that our neighbours have.

Envy is another word that can be used to describe this frame of mind. This is a very appropriate word because it encompasses greed, jealousy, resentment and a strong desire for something somebody else has, usually at whatever cost.

The winning mindset - origins

Overcoming fear

There is a prison that has an inmate population in the billions. It’s a prison without walls, without barbed wire, without guards and without any physical barrier. But it is the most effective prison in the whole world. Few escape it, but those who do find real and lasting freedom.

That prison is in our minds. It is a prison that holds back our initiative, our talent, our ability to express ourselves and, most of all, it holds back the fulfillment of our full potential as human beings.

Goals

1. Choose the Right Goal (or Goals)

Setting difficult goals improves overall performance, even if the goals are only partially obtained. That said, it is crucial that you believe your goal is attainable, otherwise you won't even try. Most importantly, spend time clarifying why you want the goal, what you may have to give up in the process, and whether the tradeoff is true to your deepest values.

2. Make Your Goals Official

It's fine to have wide-ranging ideas about what you'd like to do, but it takes a personal commitment—a decision—to make a true goal. It need not be a blood oath, but the more ceremonious, the better. At a minimum, write it down Also consider personally committing to one or more people whom you trust.

3. Create a Plan

Excuses

When it comes to excuses, the world is full of great inventors. Some spend half their lives telling what they are going to do,and the other half explaining why they didn't do it. You can fail many times, but you're not a failure until you begin to blame someone else. Our own mistakes fail to help us when we blame them on other people. When you use excuses, you give up your power to change John Madson
Never mind whom you praise, but be very careful whom you blame, said Edmund Gosse. You can fall down many times, but you won't be a failure until you say that someone else pushed you.

Think positive

It is important to figure out how to break the old mindset and get rid of the negative tapes or the thoughts that are are pulling you down.
Make a commitment and give yourself permission to incluce yourself on your daily to-do list, even if for only ten minutes. If possible change how you view things. Include in your schedule a daily form of exercise.Start with baby steps. Find a place where you can relax and let go of your worries and stress
Then realize that you can get out of life what you want
and start reprograming your mind that you are good enough and start removing the layers of onions that you have acquired over the years

Take a look at your life and move forward

I have a life; it’s unique, it’s mine, and it can be looked at any way I choose. And so do you. And yes, my lows have been low and my highs have been high as is the case for most of us. Though are we really being intentional about what we are creating in our lives. But what do you really want and who is leading your life? At the end of the day, were you proud of how you spent your time, your energy, your aliveness? We need to learn how to be an authentic leader in our own lives. Norman Vincent Peale was way more than right about the idea that “thoughts create things.” They do far more than that-they create everything in our world. We must accept “things: for what they are before we can change them.

Just do it

So you want to do Real Estate Investing? Then Just do it!
If you think just do it is easy, you are sadly mistaken. There will be lots of skinned knees and scraped chins from falling down. There will be so many times of getting up and dusting yourself off that you will begin to wonder if it is worth it. Only you can answer that. No one ever did anything without having to work at it a little. Ask anyone who plays professional sports or has become successful in business. It takes effort.
Don't sit on the sidelines wondering when your chance will come. It may never come if you don't look for the opportunity and take it. You have to be ready and when you are, just do it!
