Given UP

Given UP

I give up. I tried and tried. Spent money I didnt have for signs and got nothing. Placed flyers on cars and got nothing. Called 150 preal estate agents and the ones i get to work with me only want me to buy their rehabs. I try to get hard money lenders and all I get are money down ones or they want full detailsincluding where the money is spent on and they want the receipts. I tried coastal vending and insiders cash

I am unemployed, my employer made it so I do not collect unemployment. Nevada social services will not help me because I have no job. County social services will not help me because I have no termination proof from ex-employer. Union traded my case for a bunch of cases because I was close to retirement. I have NOT received any income since march. Im being evicted and might get to stay with a court order for 10 more days. I do not have money to buy tape to pack let alone a u-haul or storage...so Im loosing all my pocessions (over 30k worth) including my woodshop in my garage. I will be homeless with no income and I still do not know what to do with my dog. She is a special needs dog and will have to be put down.

My real estate lisence will not be made because i will not have internet access for a while. Good luck to anyone else who tries.

For the time being to

For the time being to generate some cash, go buy a can of black spray paint, a can of white spray paint, and a set of stencils. Go thru some neighborhoods and offer to repaint address numbers on curbs for $10. Do 10/day and you have $100. Do 10, then door knock and get 10 lined up for tomorrow, repeat the process. You can make $2K/month and buy some time for things to turn around. You can also get to know some people in the neighborhoods and they may have some insight on people who need to sell their houses. If people laugh at you and see you painting curbs and asking about buying houses, just say you bird dog for an investor and are trying to do anytihng to make a buck and they will respect you for that. Tina from Vegas is on this site. I'm sure if you found a deal you could partner up with her. Bottom line is, generate some cash so you and your dog don't have to worry about a roof over your heads then press on with the real estate. What's Plan B if you give up?

focus on the solution to the problem - Chris' grandfather.

Did you apply for food stamps?

Did you apply for section 8? Apply regardless of what you are told. (In my area there is a 3 year waiting list for section 8 housing assistance but you will be bumped up because of your situation)

Google local charities and not-for-profit organizations and call them, better still walk in ask for help. The social services organizations can tell you what you can apply for, they have and will help you fill out the forms. Bring eviction notices, overdue bills, statements. bank balances, your SS card + anything else you can think of (you have to prove hardship but there are many places to go for help and these types of organizations know all of them.

Do you still have that bum knee? Have you applied for disability? Find your local social services office and walk in and ask to talk to someone about your situation.

Are you or have you ever been a member of a church? There is great community help everywhere if you really want it.

Use the local library for internet. If you do not have a library card, get one now while you can still prove that you are a local resident (bill or bank statement is required to prove residency).

I do not know, but I would imagine if you walked into your local Salvation Army and asked for help/explained your situation someone there could point you in the right direction.

Find your local humane society and go and talk to them. Post a flyer on their notice board, website, etc., looking for someone willing to look after a special needs pet on a temporary basis if necessary. (Find them now and keep their contact information. Those pet friendly people will help out, don't you think? If you cannot find the humane society/cannot get to the humane society, then post flyers in supermarkets etc. anywhere with a notice board. (Looking for solutions, keep that in mind Smiling )

If RE is not where your focus can be right now ... the whole "thinking out of the box, positive thinking, solutions driven, incredible inspiration everywhere you look for it" experience of being on this site has given you (whether you realize it yet or not) has you better equiped to handle the difficulties you are now facing.

I found this online, hope it helps.

Faith!

Things will turn around. Sometimes desperation brings on a powerful motivation thats enables us to tap into resources we never knew we had.
Keep the faith!

SO YOU FAILED A LOT... DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THAT MEANS????

That means YOU ARE TAKING ACTION. That means you've found 30 things that didn't work. That means you're failing your way to success, JUST LIKE I AM DOING!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the 'stuck' out, tweak what you did and change it up. If your signs didn't work, try something different on the signs, try different areas, put them in residential areas, at Walmart entrances and exits, put fliers in senior centers and change up what they say, put them in libraries, park and rec areas, grocery stores, try post cards.

You'll get a hard money lender... when you have a deal to give them. COnnect with them, introduce yourself, find out their criteria, and screen them ahead of time so when you have an amazing deal you can use them.

Basically, are you following the recipe to the T or are you taking a few steps short? I fail daily. I fail all the time!!!! THAT is why I'm going out there and SUCCEEDING! If you HAVEN'T failed lately, YOU'RE NOT DOING ENOUGH!

Being unemployed should really put a bump under your rump to motivate you to MAKE IT HAPPEN! THere are NO excuses. You're either going to keep on doing and failing and EVENTUALLY guarantee your success, or you're going to give up and say you did all you could, when you stopped 3 feet short of Gold. GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION> Please go read my journal. There are some things in there that will help direct you to your WHY and a few tips you need to read.

Sell what you can on Craigslist and STOP making excuses of WHY what you're doing is not working and PERSIST and DON'T GIVE UP! Can't, won't never, and GIVE UP are NOT allowed in the vocabulary on this journey, and that's what it is... A jOuRNEY.. with MANY downs, for each up.

Its your choice, but the more you fail, the closer you are to success... UNLESS you give up...

Sent with tough love and with sincere respect, but if you give up, there is a 100% failure rate... Success is failing over and over again with enthusiasm. I feel for your bad situation, but you are either going to make your current situation your future, or its going to be temporary while you CONTINUE to DO. Tell yourself over and over you WILL be successful at this no matter what, and see yourself being successful.

I can empathize with you...but please don't give up

I don't know how good you are on the phone. But, here is my two cents--You know when you see something on tv followed with--"operators are standing by" then you know what I am talking about. While your still in your home with phone & computer go to liveops.com/become-agent

This is what I am going to setup tomorrow, because I have to do something to earn some money. I have worked for years and when I needed my disability, I was told I had nothing left in my disability fund. Just where on earth did it go? Well, I won't get into politics. Just know at times we all need to ask for help.

Will keep you in my prayers.

Wish you the best of luck!

Not sure what to say but i can just imagine how bad it would feel to be in that situation!): Just dont quit! because then what? nothing will change...

Maybe you can try to find Retail buyers for those rehabed properties and get paid a fee for your service. You can market out for motivated buyers with something like "quit wasting money on rent..YOU CAN OWN YOUR OWN HOUSE FOR LESS THAN WHAT IT COST TO RENT!!" something like that.. you can even gain a connection with a broker who can help in credit repair to get some of the motivated buyers qualified for those properties? hope this helps and wish you the best but.. KEEP MOVING FORWARD!

Success is a learnable skill. You can learn to succeed at anything. If you want to be a great golfer, you can learn how to do it. If you want to be a great piano player, you can learn how to do it. If you want to be truly happy, you can learn how to do it. If you want to be rich, you can learn how to do it. It doesn’t matter where you are right now. It doesn’t matter where you’re starting from. What matters is that you are willing to learn. T.Harv Eker

Most new Realtors & Investors quit within the 1st couple years & they don't understand that they are building there network & referral clients. Studies have shown that those who stick it out past the 5 year mark in this business, tend to be the ones who are successful in the real estate industry.

Brian

I worked in the medical field, ICUs for 28yrs and lost one of my jobs because in the hospital, if you lose more than5 days of work in a yr. you're gone, no matter what the reason. 2 of the absences were because my dad was dying. They refused unemployment, I challenged them in court and won. Judge couldn't believe they fired me counting my dads illness. And that is not a Union.
Two weeks later got thrown from one of the horses, lost my job for a yr. no income, and 7 fxs in my pelvis. Was 49 and supporting myself living check to check.. I cleaned houses and sold Home Interiors, selling at fairs, made more money than home parties.
I rented out a couple rooms in the farm that I rented, and a friend paid my rent the first two months.
Back to work part time at another hospital, had my horses, cats and dog. Riding again, and then back surgery. Again no help from any county or state.
Cried a lot, cried so much I'd get sick to my stomach. I called every where looking for help. Nurses pitched in, filled my oil tank at the house, it was winter time. Went out on Christmas day to clean stalls, with my back brace, just had surgery, and found several bags of grain and a note from Santa, with some money in an envelope.
4 more years, back on my feet, check to check and still renting out rooms for help, and lost my job because of my back, and I left with a very tiny pension.
So knowing what was coming, bought Deans book and did a couple small things bird dogging, only two small checks from that, but I did something.
Then the last two horses were put down, one injured her leg. The other was 34 and I made the choice to put both down.
Moved in with a friend in 2010 renting a room, and still had a few cats and my beloved dog. She died within the year if cancer at age 11. I was devastated!!! She was my companion and best friend ever!
I would live in my car, before I would ever give up my dog!

You choose how to feel.
Keep your dog and if needed, ask everyone if anyone could help with dog for about a month while you find some work. Rooms are cheap, not the best, but they work. And put your needs out there, someone will help.

Offer to shop or do light yard work for the elderly. And maybe they can even rent out a room in exchange for helping them. And they love pets too.
Here's a extra tip.
God can work in areas you are not looking. This should be exciting, a chance to try something new and relaxing now.
In todays world, I would put my dog down, rather than trust a new home, as CL if full of people that find cheap or free dogs, and recently here, someones service dog was taken and used for fights.
So get out and do something, even a part time at Wal Mart or Macs or anything.
Even pick up dog piles, there are two girls in our area who do this and now make good money at it.
God bless and look up! And this is just a short season in your life. Smiling
Sandi

Brian

I'm sorry that you're in this position. I'm in a difficult one myself but I believe that God doesn't put us in positions that we can't handle.

I see that you're a vet. You mentioned that you were booted because of an injury. With that, it sounds like you received an honorable discharge for medical reasons or injuries. The Department of Veteran affairs may be able to help you. If you haven't already, visit their website or give them a call. Explain your situation. They may be able to help you right away.

My heart goes out to you but don't give up!

I'm sorry for what you are going through but DON'T give up!

Fight, fight, fight…there is help out there but you have to find it.

I could literally write a book about what I've been through in my life and I am only 45, there is a saying in my family "you have to keep on keeping on".

I agree with so many of the comments, focus on a solution to get back on your feet, you can waste so much energy being negative....use that energy to find a solution.

Praying for you!

going quit huh!!!!!

Hi Brain your a Vet checkout what they have to offer to get you buy for awhile, they go out of the way to be helpful and if you need help with that get back with me.Quiting never solved a thing and no one in life has it easy we all have to work for our dreams.I have as others run into road blocks and who doesnt. If I told you what I been through and still going through you wouldnt believe it but Iam not even thinking of quiting and the rewards will come to those who press on. I agree with Tammy

don't give up or you will be guaranteed to fail. Keep trying. I must tell myself this at this point too. I have been working day and night and no deal yet, and frustrations with others try to interfer, but I just keep doing something daily and I should say many things daily to move forward. While your circumstances are more dire, you can do something daily to make that better as well. Maybe you can't work REI daily, but something to better where you are now. Prayers and best wishes to you!

please dont give up

I am new at this, so I also have fears of failing. But I keep telling myself to press on and persist, even though it may seem slow and tough. Here are a couple of quotes I like...

"Rest if you must but dont quit." -author unknown

"Its not over when you fail, its over when you quit." -author unknown

"Adversity introduces you to yourself." -author unknown

I got those out of a motivational pamphlet from a church. There were many more, but these fit. Most of them fit my current situation. But anyway I hope they help you a littl bit.

We all have our problems, trials and tribulations.

I am having my share and there have been times when I wondered just how much more I could take. You just can not give up. That is not a good idea no matter how hopeless it seems. As long as you have your sanity and the clothes on your back and faith in God, you will have all that you need to start over. You can rebuild and redirect your life. Many have posted lots of good ideas and things I hadn't thought of. The hard part of this is that when it is happening to us, we don't think of these things. I get a lot of comfort going to joelosteen.com and click on broadcast. I can watch and listen to his recorded sunday messages. It is very comforting. Ask and it will be given, Seek and you will find, Knock and the doors will be opened to you. I will be taking this to the Lord in prayer for you. You do what you have to do but giving up is not an option. Keep us posted here - we are your DG family.
