There have been lots of posts on this website that ask for help on assignments, or something they're working on, or other topics where they have RE to sell. But have you noticed the number of users that don't take the time of telling us in their profile where they are from.
For example, this ad:
http://www.deangraziosi.com/real-estate-forums/my-deals/68802/my-first-d...
is something I might be interested in researching for my portfolio, but I have no idea if it is in my target area because there is no location listed.
Now I know you might be thinking,"just ask where it is from". But that misses the point. I am busy and I look everywhere for deals, but I, as a buyer, shouldn't have to babysit someone who doesn't complete basic information; as that makes me think they are probably sloppy with the terms of their purchase, the comps and the understanding of the deal.
Big lesson here for new investors: You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Don't blow it.
Always Looking to Acquire Houses | Always Looking to Amaze Investors
If I have someone message me on here about wanting to work with me and I go to their profile page and there isn't a bit of information except their name. I am going to just blow them off. That is the very first thing any new member should do is take the time to make their profile page as informational as possible! So you are a buyer? What areas do you look in? May I add you to my buyers list for future deals? Send me a PM sometime.

You are so right! I have confronted people numerous times on their threads about the same thing.
If you want to be seen as a professional person and taken seriously, then present yourself in a professional way. People are always watching you and getting impressions as to whether you are a person they would want to work with sometime or if you are just a flake.
Nobody wants to work with a flake! Set yourself up to be taken seriously!

In the almost 3 yrs now that I have been here, I have read hundreds of profiles, some are still here and some have gone down the tubes because they didn't make that 50k profit on their first deal. When I read a profile I want to know as much about the person as I can before I even think about contacting them, and I know Jeremy feels the same. Our time is to valuable to waste wondering what type of person we are dealing with. No info, no contact, no possible deal.
Like you Bill, we would entertain a deal if it is in our targeted areas, but lack of planning and info on other peoples responsibility keeps us working deals that we find on our own...Jan
Need to see what State or City are they from in there profile in the first place. Looks shady for me. Blessings to all. LA
Everytime you repeat the words "I CAN DO IT" with conviction, you cancel or override your fear and increase your confidence. By repeating this affirmation over and over, you can eventually build your courage and confidence to the point where you are unafraid. -Brian Tracy-
Well Bill as always you are coaching again, I keep telling you you need to be charging for all the information and work. There's some that charge quite a bit and will not pick up the phone.
When I read a post that I interested in I click on the profile, and if its blank or has something stupid like Donald Duck or Ronald Regan I just bypass it.
Sense I have been on this site I have always signed off with my name, until I figured out how to set it automatic. That's why if you see my early post my name is on them twice.

well, now i guess i will have to stop be flakey! seriously, i think this is good for everyone to be aware of and take to heart. there are so many good people on here and i've made some great friendsships, but we have to be careful not to let one (or however many) ruin it for all of us.

I am in SC and will structure a deal any way the numbers work to make my pockets bigger.....Probably should add that to my profile lol.
I sometimes ramble when asking for help and leave out details also, that may result in the loss of someone helping me now and again, but I always try to be as complete as I can when my brain is going 1000 mph and I am amped up and passionate about what I am involved in.
I do want to say that I would like to thank everyone in advance for any assistance they may be willing to provide to me in the future and not to beat a dead horse with a stick but Bill, Thanks again, I appreciate what you did to help me out! I would have no idea still today what to do with this paperwork if you didn't offer up the answers!
Anyone ever get that "Ah Ha" moment? I had at least 4 of them in an hour yesterday!
