I want to put out some flyers that target people in preforeclosure. I am not sure what type of paper I should be using. I looked in Dean's book and in my PMI coaching but they don't specify what type of paper to use. PMI talks about putting rip of tags at the bottom of the paper. What exactly are these tabs and where do I get them? Any suggestions ?

Martin, we learned in one of the PMI classes to use Goldenrod colored paper. The tear-off tabs along the bottom say a catch phrase ("Own Your Own Home!!") and our toll-free phone number. Then, I cut vertical slits between each message (with the larger font I used, we got 7 tabs along the bottom of each flyer). Also, because I'm a perfectionist, I used my scrapbooking tools to perferate along the top, so that when the tabs are torn off, it makes a neat rectangle!! The PMI class also recommended tearing one or two tabs off before posting them so that it will appear that others have been interested in the flyer.
Hope this helps!!
you make a lot of sense. I am still uneasy about how to exactly create the flyer. I bought that goldenrod paper but I created a paper sign with marker that has not brought me back 1 call. I figured I have to make it look more professional and hope that gets their attention. I am not sure how to create the flyer with my computer because I don't think that paper will fit my printer tray. I may have to ask Kinko's to make make it for me. Thanks again!

Yes, I had heard that handwritten signs will get more attention, too. But I liked the way it looked when made on the computer better -- more professional. Plus, I couldn't get the tabs right without the help the computer. They just kept coming out looking really lame!!
Are you using Legal Size paper? We just used 8 1/2 X 11 goldenrod paper. I don't know which is better. The legal size would give you more room so you could use a bigger font, which would probably make it easier for people to see. Maybe we'll try some of each when we get our new toll free numbers.
When we get our bandit signs I will definitely hand write on those. Do you have bandit signs yet?
advertising a particular home so it looks like your "average Joe" is selling. No one called my marker signs and someone even made fun of it at my brother's business. But who cares I am not here to talk about that. I am playing around with Microsoft word and hoping I can create one here so I don't have to pay a Kinko's to do it. I am not great with this sort of stuff so we will see how it turns out . I don't know about doing bandit signs because I heard that other investors tear them down. I wouldn't doubt that in this part of the country. Maybe you have less competition so I would try them out if you think it will net you results . Good luck!

hand made flyers have worked well for Greg Murphy. Try hand made and computer generated flyers and see what works best in your area.
hand-written flyers have worked well for me , I get 1-3 calls a week...
Thanks for the good tips. I have also heard that hand written flyers on bright colored paper may attract attention and get calls. You can even include a picture of a typical type of home in the area, and copy it on the paper or cut the picture and glue it on the flyer. This mayt get even more people to call or view the ad. (a picture is worth a thousand words!
)
Thus, as indicated above try several different flyers and track the results to see which get the most calls. Good luck with building those buyer lists. Believe and Achieve!
