I see lots of "we buy houses" signs and was wondering if it is worth it to call and see if I can add them to my buyers list. Has anyone done this.
Thanks,
Doug

Doug, great idea. Please give us an update on how the phone calls went.
Thanks

Well, so far I have added a couple more buyers to my list. Now that I think about it, I feel kinda silly for asking the question. Like Mike said, "call all signs".
Thanks everyone!

It is buy doing that we actually learn. I am finding this out as well. For any others, yes, call those signs!!

How easy that was to add to my buyers list. Now to work on getting some offers out.

Calling I BUY HOUSES signs can bring you buyers, partners, properties and sellers.

I think this is a great idea. I don't have any buyers yet and I think that is a great way to start it. I just don't know what exactly I would ask them when they answer. Just a little scary is all but I need to get my feet in there and get wet.
Those signs, along with craigs list, are a great way to get buyers. Simple too. Any time I see one in a new area, I'll check to see if I already have the number, if not I'll add them and call when I get the time. You basically ask what they're looking fo such as bedrooms, baths, any particular size property are they looking for, definitely ask if they're prequalified, and maybe the amount of equity they look for (they may tell you that once they let you know the amount of profit they want to make.) Dean has great info on dealing with buyers in his Profit From Real Estate Right Now book-great book. Good look calling and don't be too nervous, they love talking to other investors and are really friendly from my experience.
Because they are into the same business as you some will liked to be added and others will not because they will see you as competition.

So I called all the numbers I had and every one of them is on my buyers list now.
How easy was that! I basically told them I was wholesaling properties and wanted to add to know if they would be interested in being contacted then had them tell me what they were looking for.
They all were more than happy to be added.
Progress is nice.

Good job. And it gets easier with each one you call. Time to find sellers. Good luck, don't stop now...
I love talking to the people who market saying "We buy houses"
The two places that I see the most of these types of people marketing at are in free classified sections, as well as bandit signs. The other thing that I look for when I am finding buyers is a local and NOT a toll free number. I am not saying that Toll-Free numbers don't work and aren't effective, I have just found that most toll free numbers are actually voice mail services where you have to leave a message and wait for someone to get back with you. I have found that people with local numbers tend to answer the phone more often allowing for you to actually talk to someone. Use this simple tip to actually have the chance to talk to someone, then you don't have to feel like you are chasing your tail leaving tons of messages and waiting for people to get back with you.
Hope this helps.
Happy Investing.

Called another one and I think he is the best of all of the ones I've talked to. He has been doing it for a while, has his Realestate Lic and has the ability to purchase as many as I can get to him. He also has no problem helping me get started if I have any questions.
Man an I excited to find a property. Every trick I've read in Deans books and here on the forum I'm going to put to use to find some properties.
Thanks Everyone,
Doug

Call on the craigslist ads "We Buy Houses" or search "ugly" or "handyman". You may be able to find buyers, properties and partners.
Be careful though, a lot are out of state investors

Because of the area where I live, there are no bandit signs and there was only one ad in the paper claiming to buy houses. They are now on my buyers list. Through sending emails I've found another buyer. What I've found out is the places like Home Buyers Network won't work with you as far as becoming someone you could call a buyer but on the other hand are they a good source to use when you are trying to sell a property when you need a buyer?
