Michelles Journal of Hope and Freedom

Hello all, My name is Michelle and I decided to start a journal to share my hopes and dreams and to hold myself accountable on a daily basis to freedom!

I am a single parent of 4 wonderful children and one beautiful grand son. Two of my kids are adults, one is a teen and my youngest will be 10 in a couple months.

I recently found out that I was going to have to move out of the house I grew up in and that I have raised my children in.
I always though that I would own this house and I had a goal that I would own it by the time I was 40.
Long story short when my dad found out that I would not buy the house for the kind of money he wanted and with all the problems he has let happen with it as well as the illegal septic system, he gave me written notice to move out.

I was up very early one morning as saw Dean on TV, I do not normally watch TV but I was feeling so very stressed that I turned it on so that I could try to relax. What I saw was this down to earth man telling me that I could own a house and make money to boot.

I took down the number but I did not call, about a month later I saw him again driving in his car and telling me I could do this. I watched until it was over and although I really wanted to call I was scared to waste money that we did not have.
Again I saw him on and this time I decided that only I could make the changes that my family needs.
During this time my oldest daughter and her hubby had my grandson, it was a scary time for us since he is not healthy and I had to spend every penny we had to be with him in the PICU unit in S.F. for 3 weeks. We learned that he has heart problems and we do not know what this will mean for him in the future but for now he is stable.

I came home from that trip with a feeling of dread in my heart that I would not be able to find a house for us to live in before July 1st and that I would somehow fail my children and our dogs, who are like kids to us I pulled out the number for Deans books and called. I used up what money was left in the account and was ready to wait the 6 weeks for the books to arrive. Imagine my surprise when they showed up 4 days later!!!

I took my son to the park and started reading I finished the first book and started on the second book. I have read both of the books 3 or 4 times each and have highlighted almost every page and made tons of notes. One week after getting the book I called a friend and told her what I was doing and that I felt she would be the perfect person to work with me and asked if she knew a good Mortgage Broker that she has worked with. She did and that set up the first part of my team.

She knew that I really needed to find a house for me to live in so that is what we started looking for. I had looked at several but they just were not what I was looking for so I kept looking. She told me she had the perfect house for me. It was a 4/2 house on one acre but it was in a town I did not want to live in. I decided to at least do a drive by and look at the stats. I loved the house and decided to see the inside. Its not a perfect house but it will be easy to fix up.
I had told her that I wanted an owner carry since I have not credit, no money, and work for myself. This property totally fit my needs plus it has equity already in it.
The seller has been great and is giving me a wonderful deal. My biggest worry was the fact that I did not have any money to put down and I knew I needed to have a little money to offer her for closing and for some other things. My Friend suggested that I ask 8 to 10 people to invest 1000.00 dollars each and I would pay it back with interest. I had three people lined up and I was talking to my fourth person when she offered to loan me the whole thing rather than me dealing with several people. I took her up on the offer and will pay that back within 3 months when I get the 8000.00 tax refund. Thank you Lord and friends and most of all Dean for making me think outside the box and letting me know I can do this!! Its been a month almost to the day since I got those books in the mail. I CAN NOT WAIT TO DO MY NEXT DEAL!!!! If I can do this as a single mom with 4 kids no credit and no money then anyone can. I will be posting pictures later if I can figure out how to do so. Stay tuned because I am going up up up!

As I finish writing this I look down at the new house keys I am holding and feel this great sigh of relief and excitement for what the next weeks and months will hold for my family and I think what a great way to start out 2010:)
