thank you, Tammy. i've been so close to doing a deal, then things would pop up and i would back off. my mother passed away in february after 10 years of terminal cancer. i have my own health issues as well, but i have had enough of that. sometimes you just have to push through everything and just do it. i have high hopes and big dreams and it's time for them to start materializing. i have to step out of my own way. how are you doing in the investing game? i hope to get going with wholesaling, but we will see what my coach has to say about that. i also have a commercial deal i have wanted to own since i was in the first grade and they have just dropped the price. should be exciting!

I just joined the academy yesterday too! I'm scare to death, but excited also. I have alot of negativity as well around me. I haven't told my spouse yet, because I want to get a couple profitable deals under my belt first to show him that there's a better way than a 9-5. Well, good luck in your new adventure and I'll have to keep track on how your doing as well. I have to join the journal as well to help me keep track of my progress. that is so awesome. we'll be the newbies on the block. i have to keep things under wraps myself and i hate it, but that's the way it has to be for now. i'll get a couple deals under my hat, then go from there to tell my honey. he is old-fashioned about money and investing, so i will have to prove there is more than one way to skin a cat. i am on unemployment right now and have to apply for 3 jobs every week, but a J.O.B is the last thing i want. i've always wanted to be financially independent and that is what i SHALL be. so, we are starting this journey together, you and me, and it should be very exciting. please keep me posted. let me know when you get your journal posted so i can keep up with you.

it's Sunday and it's rainy and cold today. i am keeping myself busy by reading Rina's first journal. i'm finally in 2009 and moving right along. it's really exciting to see these posts and all the encouragement and support the DG family gives. i know i really need that right now. i am also working on finishing Dean's newest book. he always has such great ideas. kind of chomping at the bit to get started with my materials and coaching; it's only a few days and i'll be on my way. have a great Sunday!

today i talked to my account manager with the success academy. very nice woman to talk to. she emailed the information about my online account and how to access everything, so i cruised around that and added my lovely picture too. yikes! i would put a smiley here but i can't figure out how to do it. duh. my son is on his way here from Florida. he just graduated from "bomb squad school" for the military and he is coming here on his way to his new duty station in Kentucky. i'm very excited for him. i would consider doing some investing down his way and in Oklahoma where my 2 daughters live. that would be "the bomb" for me. my kids have been waiting for me to finally start investing and once i do, maybe they will come along for the ride. i found out i have my real estate license now. i got it on the 18th, but they do not send out paper licenses anymore. you have to go on their website and print off the license information. someone forgot to tell me all that and what the website was. ha! at least, i am official now. it was a beautiful day here and i so appreciate those lovely days. hope everyone is moving along on their investing adventures. i am.

today i talked with my coach for the first time, Sherry. it was nice and she was right to the point and moved right along. that isn't always necessary, but since my son is here for a day or two, it was very helpful. we had a little challenge getting our schedule worked out to talk, but it ended up working out well for me. i hope it did for Sherry too. i'm really excited to get going and got a couple quick assignments done tonight. it may be a little slow going for me this week because of the unexpected visit, but it is important to spend time with him since i don't know when he will be deployed next. with his "job" being in high demand, he will be kept plenty busy, i'm sure. i'm already thinking about how to meet the assignments for my courses, etc. i kind of like those trophies. ha!

boy, once you make a commitment, someone or something sure likes to challenge it. my son was here a couple days, which is wonderful because we never really know for sure when he will be deployed again. right now they are saying January to Afghanistan, but that could change. he is stationed in Fort Knox, KY for now, which is only 4-5 hours from here. i can't wait to go see him. then i found out i am feeling so bad physically not just because of the mess-up with my thyroid medicine, but i have an ear infection too. so, i am working on my first lesson in spite of all that. i am on antibiotics and i sure hope they work fast. i also had to go to the Board of Realtors to get all that stuff going and had to pay out alot of money. i have a meeting tonight with the company holding my real estate license and have to put out more money. i love to spend money, but i prefer to choose what i spend it on and how much! things are moving right along and i know this is all for good. i just have to hang in there and do what i need to do. I CAN DO IT!!! and so can you.

I haven't joined the academy yet. My husband has not come around that far yet. He has allowed me to stop working parttime so I can concentrate on working for us. The job I had was causing me medical issues so I needed a change so I bought the books. My journal is tbobst daily journal. We bought our first home, 2200 sqft 4 bedroom home with a 3 room apartment on the upstairs on the back of the house. we got this house for $10,000.00, which we barrowed from my hubby's 401k savings. We also barrowed about $3,000.00 to help fix the water pipes that had been stripped out for the copper. It sat on the market for a year. It was a REO property but it closed easy. Was listed for $20,000.00 when we made our offer. We started this purchase before I got and read the books.

As far as someone or something testing the strength of the commitment, I have come across that as well. I call it a test in patience. Only the strong willed survive the test. So when you wake up in the morning make your plan to do Real Estate today. There will be days when it gets hard to concentrate on doing it, but try to do something for it everyday. Even as small as looking online at http://www.realtor.com/ to scope or watch radar properties for 5 min. on a really busy day.

I have had a very unproductive week this week, but my husband reminded me sometimes you need to allow yourself a break too so you do not get overwhelmed. Don't beat yourself up if it is not coming as fast as you need or want it. Have the faith it will come, work it daily and let it work with you.

When you need a pep talk this is the place to be and If you need to you can pm me here I'm on daily, sometimes in the morning and sometimes late at night. But I'll be around. We can learn together. Tammy

thanks for the encouragement. i needed to hear that. i am going to do some real estate work this morning while Chuck (my honey) and Jared (my son) are out messing around in the woods. alone time is sometimes hard to come by, and Chuck requires alot of my attention. he was talking this morning about doing a rehab so it will help me with my start in the real estate license part of the deal. he's been in construction for 37 years and he gets so excited when we talk about rehabs. just read an article about how rehabbing is making a big comeback and some guy did 48 last year and sold them all. can't remember where i read it, but it peaked my interest. hope you have a great weekend and a Happy Easter.

thank you. you can do this too. anyone can, it's what you put into it. the biggest thing for me seems to be getting out of my comfort zone and impatience. but, i'm working on it. hope you have a great time on your trip. will you be looking for properties during that time? i don't mess much with soy. i had my thyroid removed 3 years ago and so soy is probably not as big an issue, but i don't really care for it anyway. Michael, if i can do this, you can do this. let me know how it goes.

My hubby and I are working on our home together, this is how we are getting started. I enjoy working beside him. Somedays its all fun and laughter, somedays its a little stressed, but we really enjoy spending the time together with our girls working together. My girls love working with power tools, they like being able to fix things with their dad. Good Luck with what ever you choose.

Congratulations on getting started in real estate investing. I am from Indiana also, I have not yet joined the academy, money is really tight.From reading your journal I would say you have all the bases covered to be very successful. You have your real estate license, you have joined the academy, Chuck has a strong background in construction, sounds to me for all the ingrediants for great success story. I will be following your journal to see all the deals to come in the future. As long as you are out there playing in this game of real estate, the deals will come along, and you can handle any of them. I am new to the program too and share your nervousness but I am also excited about the prospects of growing my net worth through real estate.

We are all challenged in life to get out of our comfort zones so we can grow and succeed in changing circumstances. Be patient with your self, find the strength to follow the plan you develop with your coaches and keep at it.

it's really nice that you all can work together. believe me, people would pay me NOT to rehab, but i love all the ideas and planning. Chuck is the one who can picture things in his mind and draw up plans. i just follow along. maybe once you get the house done, you can post some before and after pictures??? Happy Easter.

what a beautiful day it was. it's starting to get cloudy right now, but the rest of the day was great. my son was back this weekend and it's the first time i've had Easter with him in 7 years. it's wonderful to have him so close after years of him being overseas. he rode his motorcycle up here and we are waiting to hear that he got back to Fort Knox safely, which i know he will. as for investing, i got my MLS codes but cannot log in. will have to check on that tomorrow. i have 2 classes this week on using the MLS and printing off forms from it. should be very helpful. i have several properties to research on the MLS once i can get on. i have to work on building my buyers list and i want to make a schedule for driving neighborhoods and checking out properties. i'm thinking about being an agent for investors, but i have not completely decided yet. have a great week!

thank you. the encouragement on this website is a huge help to keep me going. i think it's wonderful that you have your wife's support and i hope to say the same one day soon about my honey. right now he's balking at everything and listens to the news way too much. i felt joining the success academy and this website were the best choices i could make. how is your investing going?

i am studying the marketing course today and it is very interesting. i like having the guides and workbooks to use with the courses. i'm printing off the next lesson as i type. i love having things to check off as i go (big list maker). it's a beautiful day out and i have my windows open while i go for my dreams. i also finally got access to the MLS, so now i can use that after taking a couple classes on it this week. Wednesday i will get my card so i can go look at houses. i may get the "big head" from that one - i'll have to watch as i enter doors. ha! sometimes i get worried and scared, but as i back off and don't get so caught up in the outcome, things tend to work out perfectly. example: i couldn't access the MLS and the sales manager i am working under at my realty company called me accidentally this morning. he was calling another Linda and got me by "mistake". so, since he was on the phone, i asked him about the MLS challenge and he helped me get it worked out in a matter of minutes. God does things like that when we back off and let Him take care of things. i tend to be a "fixer", but there are times when i need to let the real "Fixer" take over. doing that always makes for a good day.
