I started looking at REI seriously last October 2011, it's when I realized that you could be involved in real estate without being a realtor. I read everything I could on the subject, went to seminars, websites, you name it I did it. Well all that research finally paid off and four weeks ago I was invited to be a part of Deans Inner Circle program.
Here's my (short) back story: 4 years ago I was working for a large company making 6 figures, had a good position and everything looked rosey. Then the fit hit the shan I was laid off and everything went south, the only job I was able to get was making 40K less a year. I still had the same debt though so there went my savings, and as you know the rest is history.
The reason I'm writing this is because in the last week or so I've read a couple of posts from fellow DG'ers about giving up and forgetting REI. Don't get me wrong, I don't pretend to know anyones situation and I'm not here to judge. However it does make me think about my situation and what I'M doing to make it in REI.
There are days when I get up in the morning and I don't want to do anything, I don't want to think about anything, certainly not find buyers or sellers. There are days when I feel as if I haven't remotely accomplished what I want for that day or week. And after I get over what I call "my funk" I pick myself up, dust myself off, and start the process again. Even after the worst days in REI when I didn't do or get what I had hoped, it is still better than the cheesey paycheck I get at the end of a 40 hour workweek. I read some great posts on this site that inspire the heck out of me.
What I hadn't realized is how the posts about giving up would inspire me. They made me re-evaluate what I'm doing and WHY! I've realized that the only person that can GET IT DONE for me, is ME.
I don't remember if I read this quote or heard it, "If you're not failing at least once a day, you're not trying hard enough" Well I can assure you folks, I must be giving it 1000% What will I do with my failures? What did I learn? How can I use that to my advantage?
Only by failing can we say that we have succeeded. I would like to thank everyone on this site (and my inner circle coach, eroberts) for posting and inspiring me to action and to GETTING IT DONE!!
I hope to soon post about my first deal (hasn't happened yet) which I'm sure will come.

I had a tough to weeks with the rei "lets see how does that go" the the fit hit the shan! LOL!! I could have gave up, but no a nugget was dropped into my lap and it has been that all along during those two weeks, I just did what I needed to progress in REI. I am now moving on and regrouping shall we say. Tammy

Tammy - That's the point isn't it? Keeping true to our purpose. Sometimes it's easier to say I can't. The difference is that we don't quit.

AARRRGGGHHHH!!! I had an appointment to look at a home (short sale) for 1pm yesterday, I got there with time to spare. The time passed and I didn't see a realtor or home owner at the place, so I call the realtor. She asks where I am I tell her at the house. She says no you're not I'm at the house, long story short I went to the wrong address. LESSON LEARNED
I felt like such a magoo, but I went to the correct house & looked at the place (needs about $5K) and a good cleaning. Offered $150K ARV is $215K, owner is good with that let's hope the bank is too.

Hello again guys, it's been a few days since I posted. I looked for this post again because I've been feeling BLAH
Not that I'm giving up (no need to send out the troops 
yet) I've been at this full time (part time) for about 9 weeks and I've done everything my coach has asked & I've also come up with some additional things on my own to get the REI machine going. I have a really good buyers list and I'm always working on adding to it, but my sellers list is non-existant. Nothing, zip, zilch, nada!! Until today at 5:36pm when I got a voice message on my google voice number from a woman who saw my craigslist ad and would like to sell her house. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!! Don't get me wrong I haven't even spoken to her yet, but it means that something is happening. I've been so down about not finding a single seller and there were a few days when I did absolutely nothing about it, feeling sorry for myself (HUGE WASTE OF TIME). I came back & reread my original post here and I'm ready to kick butt and take names. I guess the moral of the story is that we ALL get down every so often but only those of us that push through the adversity are going to make it.
P.S. - I put an offer in on the shortsale & the owner accepted now have to get the okay from the bank, let's see what happens. Carry on!!
