I am new to this site and so far the info that I am seeing seems pretty good. I am very curious on how many deals some of you have done so far in your investing career. Especially the "Inner Circle" members. I am trying to get a feel on who is teaching out of theory and who is teaching out of experiance. That makes all the difference! Inner Circle?

Welcome to the site!
I've been thinking a lot about your question. I could post how many deals I've done over time (which is a number of them), but I don't know if that would tell you how much "experience" I've had, because the ones I've done in the past have all been very similar. Profitable, yes, but pretty predictable. I have to say I've "grown" more in REI the last few months than I have over all the years that I've been doing it. Learning and trying new things, facing challenges and breaking through. I can feel in my mindset and my spirit that this is preparing me for greater and greater things to come. With the more knowledge I gain, the more confident and powerful (for lack of a better word) I feel. Not in an arrogant sort of way, but a kind of freedom. You may be able to get some of what I mean by reading my journal and posts from when I first joined the "DG family" in April.
You might think that the "Inner Circle" members are some special people that really stuck out to Dean. That really isn't true. We all came on as strangers, just like you, with diffeent levels of experience. We just have enjoyed and been willing to share what we DO know and are learning. Anyone here could easily come and join us.
Well, I'm sorry for going on and on. If you really want to know specific numbers I can tell you, but I hope you got what you REALLY wanted know from what I've written.
I wish you all the best Paul. And thank you for posting.
God bless,
Rina

Welcome to the DG family we're happy to have you here with us. I don't believe anyone here is teaching out of theory. We're all sharing our knowledge and experience. That's what Dean's site is all about, real people with real experiences. Some of us have taken Dean's courses and some are in the process of taking them. But we all have that in common, we ALL are here because of Dean and what he's taught us. Speaking for myself, I am commenting on my experience and knowledge from actual deals I've done and made money with, theory to me is great but again it's just theory. I'm a show me kind of gal and that's what I'm doing for others. Same for Rina and others in the IC. I hope this gives you a better perspective, thanks for posting, we look forward to hearing more from you.
God bless,
Elena

Hello Again!
I am probably the senior citizen here...but before I was a senior in my 40's, and still working, I used to spend my lunch time at the Trust Deed sales...just to watch. I subscribed to foreclosure lists back then before the computer got big and followed a duplex all the way to its sale. No one bid on it and it went back to the bank. I bought a instant camera and took pictures of each one that went to the bank. I put the address on the back of each picture. I moved too slowly and someone bought it from the bank. While down there looking I saw another one just like it for sale. I found out the guy wanted to leave the country and wanted a fast sale. I knew it was underpriced and got a realtor who knew a great broker to agree to borrow $20K more than it was selling for. I got the realtor to take a note for her commission and the seller to give me $5K for fixup he did not want to do. I got all my down payment back at closing and paid the realtor her commission after the escrow closed. That was 1994! The only thing that has changed is the date and the amount of foreclosures out there...there are alot more! As Nike says: "JUST DO IT!"
Tom
And you're right! There are a lot more out there!
Rina

Like Rina said, numbers don't tell the whole story...... they tell some of the end result of the effort put fourth but it doesn't show the whole picture. I am sure if you keep reading the messages on this site you will learn more than you ever thought possible about REI.
Here is a brief REI chronology on DeJor Properties; from a previous post.
