I went to our local court house on Friday and they directed me to our county building and the recorder. I asked her for a list of people who were behind on their mortgages or notes and she said the only thing she could give me were the lists of bank auctions on foreclosure????????????? And this list was very basic and needed lots of research!
I thought they could give you a list of all people who were a few months behind so that we could approach these people and try to help them out of a difficult situation.
Can someone tell me if I just worded it wrong so that they did not undersatand what I was after?

that same thing happened to us on tuesday we went to the court house asking for the N.O.D list or forclosure list and they sent us from place to place like they didnt know what we were talking about. so where do we go?
on what state you are in, and if they hold sheriff sales(auctions). I am able to go to the local recorders office and buy the list for $10. It will have all the properties that will be auctioned off at the next sale. Alot of them get taken off the list by the time the sale happens (people pay up). Our sale has forclosures and tax deliquient houses...
keep tring, call all the office numbers and ask until you get someone who knows what you are talking about.

I've experienced the same thing and you can't give up because they don't know what your talking about. Just keep asking for the info and if not, go back to the county recorder and ask someone to help you. I finally got through after many visits to the county recorder office. They now call me by my first name every time i walk in there. I don't know in the other states, but here in Louisiana you could give them the property address and they will give you the property owner and their info. You would then go into the court house and look up more info on the property and the owner on the recording files. Good luck and don't give up too easy!

It would appear that this is not as simple as it first seemed.
The recorder told me that she could not give me the lost of people who are behind on their mortgages but I guess I will have to dig deeper!
If anyone else has information that will help I would appreciate reading it.

what state you live in debbie, but you may have to ask another person or ask someone to direct you to the right department. The information you requested should be a public information and the public can have access to them. Just keep going back and keep asking for the same info. You have to be persistance and don't you ever give up because someone doesn't know what you're talking about. If you know the address of the place, aske them to look it for you and hopefully that will lead you into more info. Good luck and don't give up!

I don't have any properties in mind when I ask. I thought you could just get a list of people who are behind on their mortgage payments and are about to get a first notice of foreclosure?
I live in Arizona as does Dean, so I guess it should be the same as it is for him to get this information.
I will keep trying and see what happens!
Thanks for your help.
Deb
Go back and ask for "List or Notice of Default" and hopefully they will catch on. Good luck and don't you ever give up.

Hi,
I live in NC. In my county their is published paper that lists all the NOD and upcoming auctions, as well probate information. I actually think just about anything related to court filings,( marriages, divorces,etc.). Since these notices by-law have to be published as a matter of record before auction, try asking the county rep if their are published papers specific to court filings or in particular notice of defaults or foreclosure sales for your area. They should be able to direct you to at least that much information. Have a great afternoon.

thats right....they do that here as well. You can also go to the records office and buy a list for $10 if you missed the list in the paper.

I had the same issue trying to get this information from the court house. I now have a better idea and I know that I need to buy a list . I think they have a list of upcoming auction but that would mean that they received the sheriff's sale and is too late to talk to the owner
.
I am also confused as to what the difference is between "notice of default" and "lis pendens"? can anyone clarify this?
