Hi All,
11 years service with the Coast Guard, IT1/E6 that's been stationed in California (378 FT patrol boat reaching from Ecuador to Russian Bearing Sea), Alaska, Florida, Bahrain/Kuwait, Puerto Rico, and New York City.
I'm transferring to Long Island on 01Aug, and my wife and I are closing on a single family home in Bay Shore this month, 100% funding VA loan (beautiful program!).
I plan to be closing on investment properties in New Orleans within six months, have two in my cross-hairs already!
Thanks for starting a Military group. Glad we can get together.
Hello everyone,
Rob had invited me, I had asked him a question, about time management and where he was right now in the investing timeline. I am stationed at Ft. Campbell Ky. I am in the Infantry as a US Army Pathfinder. Currently will be training all the way until the end of August. Computer access will be very limited. Would love to start networking with others. This could help out big with PCSing.
Hey Rob I was just in NJ last year at Ft Dix on Med hold getting a new knee tendon. Have since moved to Minneapolis Mn area from PA and am just getting started in this venture. The military bond is a strong one and would welcome any help from anyone in this area.
Thanks Dwight
Hey I am stationed at McGuire AFB and live in Mt. Laurel. I work in contracting for the AF. I am just starting out in investing and am looking to get my first investment property soon. How has the investing been going in Jersey?

I have to apologize first for not checking into the website or group more often. Every spare minute that I've had in the past couple months has been taken by either looking at properties, running comps (I'm also a realtor) and submitting offers. I honestly have run out of time. The good news is that I've finally gotten one of my offers accepted and should be closing in about 3 weeks. The bad news is, I don't have financing locked in. I have faith that the deal will get done and will be keeping all of you informed.
Thanks for joining the group and I look forward to hearing from all of you.
I was just wondering how you became a realtor while still in the military. I would like to do something like that to learn the ropes, but wasn't sure if I could do both since I'm Active Duty. Any advice?
Hi,
I'm active duty Coast Guard, didn't get to introduce myself yet (stationed in Cali, Alaska, Florida, Bahrain, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, and New York) and I got my license in NYC and worked part time. It's not that difficult. Most states require initial classes and then passing a state test. After that, find a sponsoring broker, and work on your own time. I did five deals in my first summer working in NYC, also doing my CG duties.
...I slowed down some on that when I realized I didn't want to be a full time agent and preferred to hire them myself. Wife and I are closing on a house in Long Island now and the Real Estate agent experience helped a TON making me feel more comfortable throughout the whole process! I recommend taking the course to anyone, even if they don't want to be an active agent.

Not sure if the members know this or not? But I spoke to my realtor and VA forclosers will be delyed 4 weeks! The company they were using was fired or what ever and now country wide will be the mortage holder! creating a big problem for us in the military towns! sorry for the bad news!!! take the oppurtunity to get jump on ur credit it takes about 30 days to show!!!
Actually I was told this tid bit of information almost four days ago, and I would have shared it had I known that no one else knew, I apologize for with holding information. The realator that told me Country Wide was assuming the VA's foreclosure list made some interesting points.
#1: Ocwen, was the former company that sold the foreclosures, they will still be able to sell all listings on their site all the way up until late August I believe. Correct me if you have heard any different. All NEW listings from late August into the foreseable future will be sold using Country Wide.
#2: If anyone has the link for Country Wide and where their foreclosures are at please post ASAP!
