Offlineand his video blog from today. They are spot on. Here are my thoughts on that as they apply to me:
Needless to say, the 4th of July elicits patriotic feelings towards America the Beautiful. There are plenty of things wrong with this country but they can all be fixed with a little compromise on the part of everyone. We are still the land of opportunity and the only thing that is holding us back is ourselves. We see examples of immigrants coming to America with $10 to their name and becoming wealthy over the ensuing years. But the majority of America's citizens, which have been granted so much from birth, take everything for granted and never apply themselves to the greater good. Something like 8 out of 10 Americans are either broke, bankrupt or have under $10,000 at retirement.
It was that last thought that made me seriously re-think my position and what I am doing. Last month, I started my own internal process whereby I am determined to set a new course for myself. Over a lifetime of real estate experiences, education and contacts are going to be transformed into a new platform for myself, my family, my friends and my colleagues. I am no longer going to be happy with the status quo. I am going to take advantage of this strange time in American real estate, so that 10 years down the line, I don't look back and wish I would have bought at the ridiculous prices that are available now.
As an investor, that is what I do. Buy and hold. Buy, fix and flip. Buy and flip. Buy and Assign. Lease option. And any other way I can move property in and out of my account. It doesn't take much for anyone to do the same thing. You just have to change your way of thinking and be willing to step out of your comfort zone. After all, we are all going to be 60 something one day; you just get to choose if you want to be rich or poor. The choice is yours.
I hope to see others at the top. Make this your personal Independence Day from the mediocre.

it is time to kick some butt. It is easy to get complacent, let grass grow & get sucked into procrastinating. We all need to get off the couch, stop watching TV (especially myself) & take advantage of this prime time to invest.

I realize you have to cease every moment, time out for procrastination today is the day you just have to do what you can do and that is i can go out looking on properties, i can make phone calls, i can handout business cards etc etc! We have to be more vigilant in our climb to stardom in our investment lives. I feel a sense of relief and an urge to push even harder. I am getting my ducks in a row and have decided to take the bull by the horn and do what I have to. I am so free indeed. God Bless.

i hear you. i'm working on that myself. unfortunately, every time i get close, it seems i have to start my life all over again. gotta figure out a way to stop that!!!

Dean's blog and this post IS dead on. I've listen to the blog over and over since he posted. Actually Bill, you said something a few weeks ago on a post that hit to the core for me. I didn't even comment on the thread I don't think and don't even remember the topic or name of thread, but you made a comment "to never allow someone else to be the gatekeeper for your revenue". It as like a 'HELLO' to myself.
So many times we go through life settling, selling ourselves short, giving some else control and expecting our next day to be different. We HAVE to take responsibility. Knowing we EACH are responsible for everything up to this point. We ARE the product of our choices and responses to what life has delt us and knowing that we EACH are responsible for what our future will hold. It all starts with our very next choice.
There are no pass go and collect $200, there are no free lunches, there are no easy buttons. We have to pay the full price. No one is going to give it to us. We have to go take it! No one can steal our dreams, no one has that authority! It's us that choose to just rollover, surrender or just give it to them.
We each have to realize if it is to be it is up to me! Take responsibility, quit making excuses or at least quit looking for one! Know that we can do anything we set our minds to and anything is possible! We are destined for greatness. No matter what, do whatever has to be done. Never give up! Stop whining and start working! Stay focused. Stop focusing on the circumstances and start focusing on the outcome/results. Current circumstances are only tempory UNLESS we CHOOSE to make them permanent.
No one ever said it was easy......just worth it!
