What funny, crazy, outrageous thing would you like Dean to do to meet our $5K goal fundraiser to send 2 people to the Edge?

Dean already provides so much for us RE wise, I was thinking something totally off the wall. Something that would take us away from RE for a few minutes and cause us all to have an EXCELLENT laugh and would be awesome to see. Imagine this.

We raise the $5K for the contest, and as a result Dean will have to do something irrelevant and something that will make us all laugh. I was thinking of creating a 5 minute extension on one day of the Edge event where Dean would be doing something that would be so entertaining and different the whole place would erupt in laughter. It would be recorded and shared here on the website. Laughter has some amazing qualities, and all work and no play makes it monotonous. So, here is what my idea is.

Dean will perform on stage at the EDGE event a song. He will have to dance and sing and act very crazy. He will sing a hilarious song, I'm thinking maybe 'Like a Virgin' by Madonna and do the dance moves to boot with it. IF we can raise the $5000. That would mean at this point about 400 of us donating $10; or 800 of us donating $5. Would this anticipation of something totally bizarre inspire anyone to reach the goal?

If we all know Dean, he would most likely add something RE or benefit on top of that of his choice, but I want some totally bizarre off the wall ideas. I can picture the above in my head, and I know it would be so hysterical. I'm cracking up just thinking of it. Sticking out tongue DEAN is up for doing something crazy you guys. Can you top my crazy idea? Dean would do something like this. Let's gather up our DG family and get the contest going so we can raise the $5K by the end of March! WE CAN DO IT!! C'mon, even Dean's employees would want to see something of this caliber. IT would be something noone would EVER forget for sure! Laughing out loud

We refer to Dean as a Superhero, and one of the investors suggested having Dean wear the whole superhero outfit; the tights, the cape, the whole sch-peal. Thought that would be a funny idea as well.

One was having Dean not only dance but to DRESS the part as well. Perhaps to songs like "Baby Got Back" or "U Can't Touch This", parachute pants and all!
With those arms he's been sporting lately, he could do a Hanz & Franz skit with somebody (Matt Larson maybe?). Vee are here to pump *clap* you Up!

Erik, I like the push up bit too. You think Dean could only do 1000 push ups? I'd pledge 5 cents per push up. And, doing them in his superhero suit Rina and I are going to make for him

Right now I cannot afford anything at all. But, still, when, where and how much is this event? And, everybody, give me courage. I just called my first real estate agent. I was so scared telling him what I wanted to do without telling him I didn´t have a single cent.

What I did? Since I'm a night owl, and calling folks at 2 in the morning doesn't really do anything besides inspire heart attacks,- I went to the websites of as many local offices as I could find online, (Remax and Keller-Williams both have lovely search engines for JUST that sort of thing...) And I sent my letter (Matt Larson's letter, with my own parameters,) in through their "Contact us!" links.

I KID you NOT, within two days, I had 4 agents call me back, and three of them quite happily sent me a list of "As-is, vacant, and over 90 days on the market"

Right now? I need to get off my fluffy tail and start putting in offers! THAT'S where I need some courage!

GOOD job on getting the letters out to agents. My agent is slacking and I have to do that process again (for the 6th time) to find a few more agents; however, I did have a broker send me an email on my website wanting to work with me, so I'm calling him today. My agent is just so busy, she can't keep track of all my offers and I'm not getting any responses on any of my offers except the one she is listing agent on. So, to not overwhelm her so much, I need to have at least 2 more working it for me. Since I am working all over LA and the surrounding areas, I'm setting my goals to get at least one per county.

Hey, Alice, welcome to the DG family. The EDGE event takes place in Phoenix and the normal cost is $2495. Its a 2 1/4 day event, with many things going on in between the time when the conference is not going on. IT is definitely a goal to aim for; to be able to make enough doing REI to goto the Edge.

You know how they have bike-a-thons and walk-a-thons, why not have a push-up-a-thon?
That way everybody going to the EDGE could participate if they wanted to. Get a bunch of sponsors for each entrant at $$ per push-up. Then the Dean part of it would be that if he didn't win, he has to fork over the $5k or whatever it will be. That would be in addition to the money that the contestants raised from their sponsors.

Sure wish I was going this year, I'd definitely participate in that!

LOL, that's funny You know, several of us gals are getting together at the Edge and a couple of the guys are going to crash our little gathering. We told them they all have to wear skirts, stilettos, make up, shave their legs and under arms and sing 'Ladies Night'.

Jay, Randy, Ali, Jan, and a couple of the other DG men will be there. We think they are going to secretly bring Dean too. Just a rumor I heard. Bahahahaha!

But really, don't the lyrics there just fit everything we are attempting for ourselves? -- "Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and back in the saddle"...

(I'm thinking this year is a no-go for me, Just because I haven't gotten a deal yet, and even if one of my offers is accepted tomorrow morning, it won't close until after the Event. And I'm a little scared to be putting an offer out there with a 7 or 14 day closing date on it, without a rock-solid buyer in my hip pocket!)
