The British accent is considered extremely appealing and sexy to the American ear, therefore is a huge marketing tool in the USA. Many American TV commercials feature British accents, more than ever before. The British accent is also considered authoritative and trustworthy, so it adds gravitas and class to your message. This is what I am considering for my recorded greeting. I like my voice, but I prefer to use a voice that will grab attention.
Have you considered a BRITISH ACCENT?

Haha, it sounds funny when you say it like that, but it actually makes sense. That is true about commercials, etc. Smart thinking. Does anyone know how we can contact Simon Cowell? ha

My high school tennis team likes to talk with that accent but I never considered using it as a business tool. But you might be on to something..go for it. Are you going to have to continue the accent through all calls and relationships though?

Fellow investors,
I am from London, UK, and have had much success in using my accent to my advantage when interviewing for jobs, public speaking or just doing some public relations. I have found that most Americans will consider me savvy or expert in a matter just based on my accent. I have been blessed with one very useful trait, I hope to receive the same fortune when further venturing into my RE Career!!!
By the way, I have received many compliments for voice mail recordings and such in the past. It really does make a difference how you are first portrayed ... and most of the time it is over the phone (voice).
Thanks Chaps,
Matilda

No, I would just use the british accent for the recorded greetings only. I believe in the origional movie, Star Wars, the bad guys used the British Accent, LOL. I am seeing several business commercials that are using people that speak in that accent.
I actually visited London UK last year and really enjoyed my stay there. I visited Buckingham Palace and took a tour bus and went on the underground. They have excellent food there.

Jason, you are always thinking!! Love it!
Hey, Mati, can you post a recording for all of us to hear? I LOVE British accent.
Question: You know the UK Craiglist ads that bombard your e-mails after you post, like "Professor so-&-so from London, UK looking for a place to rent in America, will pay for a year in advance". I am wondering if some of those are legit? I don't even open any of them because I assume they're all scams (especially when the "professor" cannot spell). Maybe I'm being too much a skeptic???

SCAM SCAM SCAM! Hi Rina, a coworker of mine was actually renting his place out and listed on craigslist. He received this offer and decided to pursue it. They said the same thing you mentioned about advance payment. He decided to try it because he wouldn't have anything to lose if they pay upfront right??? Well here's the SCAM. They send you a Cashier's Check (LOOKS REAL LEGIT FROM USBANK IT READS ON THE CHECK)They make it for more than what it should be for, like atleast $1000 more. Saying there parents sent it to them to pay for the rent and their allowance while they go to school. They will then ask you to send the difference ($1000+)there are lots of people out there that would NOT wait for the Cashiers Check to clear and just send them the difference specially because it appears to be a real cashiers check and not a personal check. I told my coworker to take the check to a USBANK to verify the check, we actually called USBANK to verify the account number and thats when we found out the check was phony.
This reminds me of Ross (from Friends) when he starting talking in his British accent at the college he was teaching at.
Local News did a report on rent scams from Craigslist. Never send money and some of the pictures they showed of houses to rent where from the MLS listings.
Would love to post a recording for all to hear. Any idea how i would do this?
Mati

Rich2000,
Way to watch out! And thanks for sharing that! No way to track them down, either, I'm sure..

Hey mati,
Ditto!
Been here for a while but I didn't lose my accent yet. I agree it is a great asset in the US
Angela
See if you can record part of Dean's message and post it for us to hear?
Maybe you two could have an extra stream of income?
