Hi! DG Family!
I'm new here and FINALLY taking the first steps of ACTION toward a financially secure future for my daughters and myself. I received Dean's book back in April and, due to my own fears of failure (or success?), have read through the book only once, skimmed a few sections again, yet put forth very little additional effort toward becoming a successful real estate investor.

There, I said it. It's out there and there's no taking it back now.
So, I have finally become fed-up enough with my dead-end job to bring myself to the point of, OH DREAD!, asking for...HELP! Smiling Jawdropping! Laughing out loud

I would like to meet in person with successful, "been there, done it" DG family members in and around the Omaha, Nebraska area. I would REALLY appreciate any help you can offer. After reading my bio here I would like to offer an OPEN INVITATION to ANYONE on this site with POSITIVE FEEDBACK to PM me. I WILL get back to you.

One of my excuses to myself has been that because my work hours conflict with most of the rest of the world (on 'day shift' hours) and have no transportation, I can't set, AND HONOR, appointments to talk to sellers in the evenings.

I am certain that I possess a lot of the positive personality qualities necessary to succeed in this field. I have 50 years of LIFE experience (including U.S. military service); 22 of those years being faithfully married and "training up" six beautiful daughters "in the way they should go so that when they are old they will not depart from it." (Prov. 22:6) Hence, I have become an excellent listener and communicator. Smiling In college I majored in Commercial Photography w/ minors in Art, Advertising and Marketing. That's why I am VERY interested in the '7 Day Auction' and assignment strategies that Dean suggests. If anyone would be willing to share with me about ANY personal experience or success you have had with that method, please do so here with a PM.
I have NOW made a commitment to myself to be online, on this site, by 1:00am M-F and usually after 10pm on Sat. & Sun. (barring prior commitments with my children)

Personally, I believe that fear is the DIRECT OPPOSITE of FAITH IN ACTION. I have the faith; in God and myself. Now I just need to put it into ACTION! Smiling I really am working on it now.
I know God blesses me; when I get out of the way and LET HIM! Smiling

After I received your PM I reviewed your profile. You have been blessed by God with 6 daughters and I am sure you are very proud of them.

I think you have taken the first step since you have set a goal to be online in the forums. You must continue to read Dean's book and follow the step he has given you. Then read all the forums. I know that may be a little tedious and time consuming, but I can't tell you how much information and knowledge you will gain by reading them. Ask your questions no matter how silly you may think they are. Beleive me there are others out there waiting to hear the answers but were held back from asking. Set goals for yourself. Make them realistic and reachable. Check out my journal. I try to write something there everyday because it helps keep me on task and if I'm on the wrong track hopefully someone will see it and set me straight.

You are not alone with the "fear". We all have it! What keeps me determined to forge ahead is that I need to do this for my family. We are in dire straits financially. I put God first and my family next. So, for me I'm going into this asking for God's blessing on my business and that HE gives me the fortitude and guidance to succeed for my family and that I can have a chance to give back to others.

Don't give up Jeff! Everyone on this site is ready and willing to hep guide you through. But, remember they can't do it for you. You are the one that has to take the bull by it's horns and push through. It will get easier as you go along.

If I can be of help, just PM me anytime I will try to pass on to you what I have learned.

Thought "I would check in to see how you are doing. Have you made any headway in the investment business? What is your status? I hope to hear you are moving right along!

I haven't made my first deal yet, but I still working hard at it and am determined not to give up. Get a little scared about it sometimes though, but I keep forging ahead.

I really DO appreciate all the positive input that you and the other successful investors on this site have shared with me over the last few months.
I don't know WHAT ever made me think that a 50 y.o., washed-up, now-sober drunk could actually become as successful as all of you.
When I purchased Dean's books and subscribed to the Empowering Conversations series I had had no transportation (car or motorcycle) since 2004 but SOMETHING in my messed-up mind told me that I might have a shot at something good in my life (besides my daughters, of course). Last week I could not get a ride to my J-O-B because of the snowstorm here in Omaha. I was discharged; after a year and a half. Now I am barely able to afford to stay in the room I rent, much less initiate real estate deals! No car; so I could make appointments to call on people; no money even for the bus.
I am not writing this in search of sympathy, yet as a 'Thank you' note for the encouragement from someone who was able to 'stay with it'.
I know that God will continue to keep me sober and doing His work for Him here on earth but apparently He does not want me to be wealthy while doing it! Laughing out loud
I just thought I would write to you one last time and congratulate you on all your successes. Please continue to fight the good fight and press on toward the goal.
I pray that you and your family have a wonderfully blessed Christmas!
