What would be the price to install hardwood flooring? Labor and material?

At the live EDGE event some of the guests were referring to average costs per square footage when rehabbing a home. Thus, can fellow DG Members share, where they live in the country (state and rural or city) and what typical rehab costs may be per sq ft for items such as carpet, paint, flooring (tile, ceramci, pergo, etc.) roofs, painting, rehabbing a basement into a rec room, updating a bath etc.?

There are many different quality repair people and contractors in every area. Some offer the same quality of work and service but at different prices. For example, if you want to put a roof on a property make sure you get an estimate for the same exact work and durability of materials. Say you want a complete tear-off, re-deck and 30 year architectural shingles with ice and water guard around the edges. This roof may be bid by 3 different roofers and the prices may range dramatically. One roofer may quote $6,000 then another $7,500 then another $12,500!

Anyone ever heard of chinese drywall? I was speaking to a FL RE agent and said there have been cases of tis 'chinese drywall'. It gives off a gas that can disdroy your ac and heating systems. All duck work has to also be replaced, and ofcorse the dry has to be ripped out of the whole house. When it starts to 'go bad' it smells like rotten meat, and has black mold like spots coming through to the surface. Builders along with realtors are being targeted for legal action.

Anyone experience this? The chinese drywall is said to have been available during 1989-2002.
