When you study the strategies and methods of really successful investors, they’re not doing a lot of deals because those deals find them. They’re out marketing and advertising for those deals. They’re getting homeowners to call them for help with their distressed properties, and they’re making contact with other investors, buyers, sellers, builders, renovators and bankers.
We have plenty of marketing training on our sites and in our books, and all of the traditional stuff still works, from bandit signs to Craigslist ads. We also have a lot of great training in using the Internet, websites, blogs, and the social media. As Google+ is growing so fast and becoming a major marketing platform for other businesses, we thought we could point out a few features here that should encourage you to take a look if you’re not already using it in your marketing.
It’s free - always a great recommendation for any effective marketing medium. There are no paid ads, at least not yet.
Personal profile & timeline - first you set up your personal profile and you can use it to build out Circles and reach prospects and potential deal-makers.
Circles - these are Google’s quasi-groups. By segmenting the people you communicate with into groups with similar interests, you’re able to post items and direct them to just one Circle, several, or make them public.
Business Pages - creating a page for your investing business is also free, and you can begin to add prospects, investors and others to your Circles there that are independent from your personal profile. This is especially useful if you have more than one business or plan to.
Communities - new at the end of 2012, Communities are created around common interests, and they’re hugely popular. For example, you could create a community around local real estate, or local real estate investing. People join, conversations begin, and you have a platform to share your expertise and build business.
Actually, there are articles out there from Web marketing “gurus” who are using Google+ as a blogging platform. Though it doesn’t provide the flexibility of your own blog, it’s highly effective and Google Search displays Google+ posts in search results. If you haven’t already, check out Google+ for your business.
