REI club

REI club

We have been scouting around for a club in the Parkersburg, WV-Marietta, OH area and have not found anything. We have found one in Charleston, WV, a bit more than an hour away. I can attend that one but I was hoping to make the connections a local club could provide. Should I go ahead and try to start one up here even though I am brand new to all of this? Also, if I did I would want to have topics and possibly speakers lined for for the first several months to make sure it kicked off solid. Or, should I attend the Charleston meetings and see what it is all about before I jump into this? Maybe both. Any thoughts?

Hi,
I'm not sure if this will help you out, but there's a site called meetup.com ( I believe ). It has every type of category....from dating to real estate investing. All you got to do is type your area in and it will show you everything in your surrounding area. Hope you find it helpful.

God bless,
Mike

Definitely Both

We recommend visiting clubs an hour away....they cool thing is you'll see how a club functions and make great contacts. Also there may be others from your area that are in that club that can help you start up a more local. Plus, you'll always learn something new.

We've been successful in REI for quite some time, but still attend meetings. I don't think I've ever been to a meeting that doesn't offer something new for us or at least a new way to think about something. We live in Colorado and I just attended a club in NJ this past Tuesday. Even though it was over 1000 miles away from home, I met some great people and picked up a few new tricks!

Andrea, My husband and I

Andrea,

My husband and I were at the South Jersey meeting this past Tuesday and I thought I saw you there. We were sitting in front of you. We saw you at EDGE last year but, didn't get the opportunity to meet you. We just joined that club Tuesday. We also finally started the academy a few weeks ago. What brought you to NJ? Sorry to have missed meeting you.

Cheryl & Dave

Hello Cheryl & Dave

I was actually in Jersey though the Academy. I was there doing a one on one mentoring with students (similar to what Matt did with Randy - I know that was talked about at the EDGE last year). I had a couple students that live in Vineland that I wanted to get moving so I took them to the meeting. It was a great meeting...I think you'll get tons of support through that REI club.

Make the most of the Academy...I always say if you are not calling in once a week you are not "working" it enough.

Best of luck to you!
Keep us posted on your success!

Andrea & Chip That's great!

Andrea & Chip

That's great! Again I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you. Hope so soon in the future. Let us know if you're in Jersey again. We were set to go to EDGE this year but, since we just joined the academy decided to concentrate on that. We're planning on going again next year though. Thank you for the encouragement. Best wishes to you this year!

REI Clubs

I appreciate the responses. I have tried the sites everyone suggested but did not find anything in the Parkersburg area. My daughter and I will be the attending the one about an hour from here and may check into another I found about 2 hours out. As things get rolling and we learn from the other clubs we'll see if we can drive some interest in getting a club started here.

Thanks,
Tim

Tim, As you can see in our

Tim,

As you can see in our above posts we, just joined a REI club. It's about an hour away from us. We joined another one an hour away from us in the other direction also. We feel it's worth it because of the networking and all the information available.
The club we just joined we found out also has subgroups that are alittle closer to our area. So, perhaps you can find or start a subgroup of the club you decide to join. Good luck to you!

Cheryl & Dave

Thanks! That's kind of what

Thanks!
That's kind of what I have in mind and good luck to you to!
