I also think its important we don't lose sight of who we are doing this for. My mother is about 10 years away from retirement and has nothing saved. I am her retirement plan and that is fine by me. That's why I have to make this work. What is your why? Is it worth taking rejection for, is it worth fighting for, is it worth doing whatever it takes. Mine is, yours should be too. I once had someone tell me your why should make you cry. Does yours?

I have always struggled to make ends meet, This is just the way life is, that is what my family has always known, always done, and most will always do. That is fine, Work hard for someone else and have a good pension when you reitre. That was what my family said, well my aunt and uncle retired when their plants were having troubles, so they opted for early retirement in their 50's, My uncles company had pension scandles some of the funds were missed used or missing, so his secure retirement was not there as he planned.
My father was a hard working contractor, never saved for reitrement, got sick and was on disability, never had anything but struggles to pay the bills. My mother depended on my father for sole support so she could raise us kids, no retirement of her own because she rarely worked outside the home.
My husband and I struggle always to meet the bills even with 2 working we never seemed to be further than the next paycheck. We are a solid , happy, loving family and money is not the most important thing in life. But there are times when the kids miss out on things they want or places they would like to go.
So my why is a better finanical future for me and my family, I don't want my kids to struggle like we do, I want to help my mother live out the rest of her days not struggling for everything she would like to have, not just afford what she needs.
I would like to be able to help my brothers and sister ,their kids, and my future grandkids to have a better life.
I also want to help others in our community, through programs or donations to have a little easier time too.
So I am going to make this work for a better life for my family and my community.

I have worked since I was 15 years old and I really don't feel any better off now than I was then. I'm about to turn 48.
I still worry if there will be enough for gas and food before the next check comes.
