Wits End....

Wits End....

I was getting on here to write a post about how I'm at my wits end, but after seeing Deans most recent blog I'm calming down a little. Its nice to hear that even he has bad moments.

I'm still going to write my post only to vent, and in hopes it might help someone who is in the same boat.

Today has been a really hard day for me. Yesterday I came to a realization that in order to survive I was going to have to do somethings I never thought I would ever have to do.

I'm inches away from being homeless and am eating the last bit of food in my cabinets. I'm by no means starving, just reaching that point where you start to eat the things you stored because you did not like them. After that, then I'll start to worry.

So I applied for food stamps! Something I never thought I'd do. I also talked with my apartment manager and got a 10 day extension on my rent. I live with a roommate who was barely able to pay her rent. If I don't make my rent, her and her 1 year will also lose their place to live. I CANT LET THAT HAPPEN! She's my best friend and even though her daughter is not mine I love her like my own.

I've studied real estate for my entire adult life. I've taken every course I can and have reread or listened to them over and over. I started when I was 12 and I'm now 28. I was once told by a real estate developer that I was going to be the next Donald Trump. I've had the pleasure of working hand and hand for some of the local Investors. Each have told me I'm going to go far.

I've had a real estate license, studied real estate funds and private stock offering, even had private coaching. I can write business plans that would blow your mind,(if I did have nerve issues that make it painful to type)

I write all this not to brag but to show that even someone who has been trained in every aspect of real estate can still be hindered by a mental block.

I will keep working towards becoming a real estate investor even if I have to work outside of my car! I just need to figure out what mental block is strong enough to hold me back to the point of being homeless....

Stop Over-Analizing !

Studying & book learning is good to a certain extent, but just get off your butt & do something tangible. Doing is much better experience than just getting educated.

Being homeless

should be reason enough to get your pseudo mental block out the way

No one can tell what is already obvious

Been there :)

Yea I had been over analyzing things for about 15 of the last 16 years. I am finally pushing through that barrier Smiling

That can be a large barrier for some, Dean and this site have helped me start moving past that!!!!!!

What's your action plan?

And start checking off the items TOMORROW!

Nothings stopping me but me! I want to make a lot of excuses but I know better!! I just need to push through this! Smiling

Get out there

and do what must be done

Doing and Knowing.

I'm at the point of setting up my first contact for REO's and i'm in a similar situation. The worst thing in not having Knowledge is having knowledge and not physically using it. I'm glad to say that before the banks open in the morning I will be well on my way to taking another step in my success. Take action. What's the worst that can happen.

Do make excuses, make them

Do make excuses, make them your "REASON WHY". Knowledge + Actions = Great Success!

Absolutely

Don't be forty years old and still have done nothing. You CAN DO IT!

Not only am I in the same boat...

I've moved up from Cabin Boy, to Deckhand, to Captain, and now I'm Admiral of the Fleet, LOL. You're looking for someone who's too educated to stay on the couch, but too afraid to get off it? Here I am, LOL!

I've studied REI for 13 years. I can tell you which "gurus" have turned out to be complete con artists, the real deal people who made 1 mistake and went bankrupt, REI techniques that worked 30, 20, 10, even 5 years ago that don't work at all now, and never will again.

I'm not a lawyer, but I've studied law all my life. I can read any contract and tell you without a doubt what's wrong with it and where the holes are. I'm told my people skills are "second to none," yet I have not looked at a single property away from my computer screen or car windshield, have not spoke to a single seller, made a single offer, or done anything to change the life I have, to step towards the life I expect...

I know enough to make money in any neighborhood in this country, but I haven't made a dime yet. 13 years of waiting, 2012 will not make 14. I am an expert student, a professor of theory, a #1 fan of other people's testimonials and successes, but not even a NEWBORN when it comes to hands-on experience. Every 2 weeks this world gets colder, more expensive, and more negative - so I hide away in my study, too scared to try something most people would agree I should've started a decade ago.

You are not alone in this fight. I think there are more of us than anyone realizes, and I'm more certain than ever, our time is now. I dove into so many things headfirst with no clue what I was doing, sure to fail, yet they did not end in disaster. Why not this? REI is far less dangerous (and even less expensive) than some other things I've pursued, with a potential for infinitely greater returns than nearly anything I've ever done before.

What is the upside of getting started? - You could change your life (and many others) forever. Some of us would say it can even save our lives.

What the downside? - It depends on your preparation. But I have it on great advice that the pro's of REI will always outweigh anything bad that could happen. The real downside is staying where you are. Don't let life force you out of your inaction - choose on your own to leave it. My inaction has done nothing for me, it is dead weight to me. Trust me when I tell you, "There is no better feeling in the world than getting rid of dead weight."

Sorry this is so lengthy, but you have to be so sick of where you're at that getting out and doing it is the only thing that will help you. That's where I'm at, so that's where I'm going. You should come, too. The Fleet of Inaction will have to choose a new Admiral, because I'm resigning. It's time for me to be born, all over again. Best of luck to you... Laughing out loud

Your not alone....

Everyone goes through a roadblock, a challenge, and/or some kind of shutdown. Nobody wants to be there and getting out of it is the hardest but most courageous thing to do. Your very first step is to surround yourself with "positive doers" in the industry. Participating on Dean's website is wonderful! You will definitely get plenty of advice and support here. Another thing you can do is get involved and go to some real estate investment clubs. Get out and meet other investors. Get online and post some ads on Craigslist.com, backpage.com. DO something everyday for your business. You'll do it. You took the first step by posting on here and listening to Dean's blog. Dean does a blog every week. Listen to it every week for the next couple of months. Dean does an amazing job at motivating people and part of the reason why he's so good is because he's so passionate about real estate and his students successes! This is real estate not rocket science and you're clearly a very smart guy. Get out there and "MAKE IT HAPPEN"!

Good luck Smiling
