PML workshop, what should I ask at the workshop

Ask how PML relates to the SAFE act. Ask if the SAFE act is designed to protect consumers and if investors and private lenders are exempt from the SAFE act.

I have heard of the SAFE act, but what exactly is it? And is this something that would apply in all the states?
How do I find out more about the SAFE act?

Because of the post that came up earlier about the SAFE act, which was up today at the same time mine was. I have done some research on it here in Wisconsin.
Biggerpockets blog, and typing in SAFE act Laws, and I found lots of info.
I am glad this came up and intend to do more studying on this tomorrow and ask this question at the workshop.
Thanks TRSD, for suggesting this, I never knew about it, and apparently, not many others still know, according to the posts I read on the other blogs. But typing in SAFE act laws in your state, brings up quite a bit.

Is this something that Dean has approved

This is a workshop I am attending through my REI club, what do you mean did Dean approve it. I asked if anyone had any good questions on PML I could ask, and it was mentioned to ask about the SAFE act. Never heard of it before. But also today was another post about the SAFE act. To which more people added their posts.
Why would Dean have to approve asking a question about it. And what about the others that ask about other laws. Including the other post about the SAFE act.

How do I make PML a reality, what specific steps do I take to make it happen?

That's what I would ask. I have a link with a downloadable report that explains private money lending. It helps out investors as much as it does lenders.

I've got to get my marketing going to solicit for private money, but you need to be VERY careful when you advertise for PML. You can not for instance say 'I AM LOOKING FOR PRIVATE MONEY' or GUARANTEE anything. So, you may also want to ask specifically about what type of advertising will not be frowned upon by the SEC.

SAFE act is always a good thing. Here it is confusing, and I have broker's tell me that it is LAW that I use a broker, but others that say if its a private individual I can do the loan myself, so you could also ask specifically about how to set up PML with individuals and staying SAFE and SEC compliant.

Randy, I think Dean would approve of private moeny; using other people's money is his whole premise.

I met the gentleman who sponsors the workshop and have already talked alone with him after the meeting Tuesday. And I do have some MD's I used to work with that said when I left the hospital, that investing won't pay. Plan to show them wrong, even told them I'd be back to prove it. So better make this happen!

I have to be honest about this. This site finally got me going, and when you stepped into my life and not even knowing me, and gave me that helping hand, that turned it all around for me.
I felt like I wasn't just the "underdog" trying to see if this would work.
You got me motivated!
This workshop I went to was awesome!!
I learned so much. And signed up for his course. But I learned about the SAFE act laws. And didn't expect to learn even more about the SEC.
And I did ask questions about the SEC and found out they have different laws in 14 states.
I didn't even think about the SEC, till you mentioned it in this post.
Not only that. But because of this workshop, I ended up networking with 4 others from my REI club, we had lunch together, and two of us split the course, but ended up with two of them because of another basic course I had already bought from them.
PML is really so easy! Why are we all so afraid to go out and just network and speak up.
I had a great time on Saturday, and now there are four of us that are going to work together. Not so much on a deal, but we are getting together on our own to come up with helping each other get them done!
So Tammy, I kept at this after you helped me out. Because a perfect stranger came forward and offerred me some help. Thanks!!
On Saturday, I just felt so confident at what I did know.
And I am anxious to help others out.
New knowledge opens new doors and new opportunities.

PML.....OPM

This has been taught to us through Dean and all other REI courses. Use OPM...other peoples money. You use credit cards daily = OPM.

Good for you going out there doing what you think you have to do,taking the steps and moving forward and getting more info for what you need.

I don't see anything wrong with your ? here, but, then again my post have been 'flagged and removed' without explanation for whatever reason.

Keep on going-build that PML and investor list and you'll be just fine.

I do know what OPM is and I think this is taught in other types of business too. Every investor teaches that, so don't understand why some come on here and say, I have no money to do deals.
And I haven't had a credit card for over 30yrs. Never needed one. Use my debits, and one small prepaid. Had my id stolen in 1998 and the prepaid is safer.
I now have a list of PML, scripts, and laws. And I have tried before to get this, but all I read on some posts is how everyone has problems with several lenders hard money or private.
As for me posting this, I gave no names or systems and I see people post on here all the time tons of websites to go to. And even their own sites.
I have never done that. And yet Ameraco is mentioned over and over again, and they tell you they work with Dean.

I love what I learn from Dean, and do tell others about his training.
But since joining the REI, my life has done a flip for the good.
For all the posts that repeat over and over why some take action and some don't, well, my thoughts are, we already know this, and the ones that go nowhere, just sit there waiting for it to be handed to them.
I was so broke I couldn't even afford the $15 for the REI, and months went by. Not just broke, buy no income at all. for months. But I didn't quit. Finally a small but decent check came my way, and I took most of it and started learning again, and joined the REI.
Now I can go back to Deans and it all falls into place.
Makes me sick to think I could have done this years ago.
So here is to a much better year!

I am so grateful to know I helped you; you are definitely a person of honor and character and I was glad I could help you out; but I didn't realize the extent of it. It seemed so small of a thing to do, and the right thing to do. That's the real heart about what REI can do; giving back to others. That's one of my goals of REI!
