Hello everyone,
I have a question. The investor I am bird dogging for is currently located in another country. Though his company has a US Federal Tax Identification Number. How do I go about filing a 1099 when I start making money when the investor is located in another country?
I would greatly appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.

The investor is in another country. This is something of concern. In most cases, when an investor is from Africa, London and other countries, this could be a scam. Please be careful, do not give out confidential information to people in other countries. You may live to regret it. Doing deals instate and out of state is just enough. Just concerned for my fellow DG family member. God Bless.

Thanks for the reply, and I have not closed any deals with him.
I don't think I will continue with this then.

As Sandra said, you should be very careful with any of your personal info. I would spend some time on your computer and google the company name, his name etc and find out all you can. There have been many attempts by scammers to get on this site and try to take advantage of good people trying to change their lives for the better. Just be careful...Jan
Just another word of caution. I was looking for myself, a home to lease with option or for sale by owner. I placed an ad looking for a home and rec'd a call from a person, who even gave me the name of the owner of the house. I went and window peeked at the home, and then checked on tax records and he had the same last name. The man said him and his wife were in Africa and wanted to get rid of the home.
When I went to the house the realtor sign was still there. I asked the man why it it still there, he said the contract was up, NOT to call the realtor.
I saw red flags, and called my brother who does business overseas. I asked his opinion, he saw flags too.
Well all of a sudden, late in the evening I get a call from this man. I was approved for the house, now I did not give anything other than my name, address and my landlords name, I will not give bank acct or soc sec. # to anyone, had my ID stolen in 1998. But the call was, he was so happy for me, and send the down payment immediatetly and please wire it. That should open the doors wide open to red flags. I refused and he got upset, saying send anything even a few hundred. So I came right out and said, this is a scam and I wouldn't send him anything. He hung up. I called the realtor right away and this man had scammed 6 other families on that property. A couple sent money and were planning to move in.
So even in your state you can get scammed and my ad was just in Wis..
So be cautious all the time, but beware of anything from out of the country!
And there are plenty of good investors here, that you can meet and deal with.

Stevin,
There should be plenty of investors that you can find in-state whom you could bird-dog for. Good job coming on here to ask questions!

Thanks, and currently I have some others out of state...but I will continue to look for some in state as well.

There are enough reputable investors in your own state that would enjoy having a bird-dog in their pocket. Don't get caught up in that foreign stuff. Almost never works out.
