Sometimes songs can motivate you to take action! Yesterday, I heard the 80's hit "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves. I found this song to be a motivating, feel good and upbeat type of song. A song that makes you want to have a great day and take action.
What is your song?

Deniece Williams "Black Butterfly" is my motivation. Reminds me to persevere keep the struggle going, against naysayers who are putting you down, when you get a resounding NO from a Lender or whomever or even my own doubt. I know I can do this, others have done it they've been were I or anybody else have been (even in worse circumstances) and they've MADE IT.
"I will NOT BE BROKE! ANYMORE!"
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent,
the Merciful.
22.He is Allah besides Whom there is no God: The Knower of the unseen and the seen; He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.
23. He is Allah besides Whom there is no God: the King, the Holy, the Author of Peace, the Granter of Security, Guardian over all, the Mighty, the Supreme, the Possessor of greatness. Glory be to Allah from that which they set up (with Him)!
24. He is Allah: the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner: His are the most beautiful names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth declares His glory: and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Land Of Hope And Dreams - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND
Grab your ticket and your suitcase
Thunder's rolling down the tracks
You don't know where you're goin'
But you know you won't be back
Darlin' if you're weary
Lay your head upon my chest
We'll take what we can carry
And we'll leave the rest
Big Wheels rolling through fields
Where sunlight streams
Meet me in a land of hope and dreams
I will provide for you
And I'll stand by your side
You'll need a good companion for
This part of the ride
Leave behind your sorrows
Let this day be the last
Tomorrow there'll be sunshine
And all this darkness past
Big wheels roll through fields
Where sunlight streams
Meet me in a land of hope and dreams
This train
Carries saints and sinners
This train
Carries losers and winners
This Train
Carries ****s and gamblers
This Train
Carries lost souls
This Train
Dreams will not be thwarted
This Train
Faith will be rewarded
This Train
Hear the steel wheels singin'
This Train
Bells of freedom ringin'
This Train
Carries broken-hearted
This Train
Thieves and sweet souls departed
This Train
Carries fools and kings
This Train
All aboard
This Train
Dreams will not be thwarted
This Train
Faith will be rewarded
This Train
Hear the steel wheels singin'
This Train
Bells of freedom ringin'
This train, Dreams will not be thwarted
This train, Faith will be rewarded
Big wheel roll through fields where sunlight streams

WORKING ON A DREAM - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
Out here the nights are long the days are lonely
I think of you and I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
The cards I've drawn's a rough hand darlin'
I straighten my back and I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Though sometimes it feels so far away
I'm working on a dream
And how it will be mine someday
Rain pourin' down I swing my hammer
My hands are rough from working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Though trouble can feel like it's here to stay
I'm working on a dream
Our love will chase the trouble away
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday
Sunrise come I climb the ladder
The new day breaks and I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday

POISON - SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN
Will I see him on the tv
Preachin bout the promised land
He tells me to believe in jesus
And steals the money from my hand
Some say he was a good man
But lord I think he sinned, yeah
Twenty-two years of mental tears
Cries a suicidal vietnam vet
Who fought a losing war on a foreign shore
To find his country didnt want him back
Their bullets took his best friend in saigon
Our lawyers took his wife and kids, no regrets
In a time I dont remember
In a war he cant forget
He cried forgive me for what Ive done there
Cause I never meant the things I did
Chorus:
And give me something to believe in
If theres a lord above
And give me something to believe in
Oh, lord arise
My best friend died a lonely man
In some palm springs hotel room
I got the call last christmas eve
And they told me the news
I tried all night not to break down and cry
As the tears rolled down my face
I felt so cold and empty
Like a lost soul out of place
And the mirror, mirror on the wall
Sees my smile it fades again
Chorus
Sometimes I wish to God I didnt know now
The things I didnt know then
Road you gotta take me home
Solo
I drive by the homeless sleeping on a cold dark street
Like bodies in an open grave
Underneath the broken old neon sign
That used to read jesus saves
A mile away live the rich folks
And I see how theyre living it up
While the poor they eat from hand to mouth
The rich is drinkin from a golden cup
And it just makes me wonder
Why so many lose, so few win
Chorus
You take the high road
And Ill take the low road
Sometimes I wish to God I didnt know now
The things I didnt know then
And give me something to believe in
POISON - CRY TOUGH
Remember the nights we sat
And talked about all our dreams
Well little did we know then
They were more distant than they seemed
Well I knew it
You knew it too
The things wed go through
We knew the things we had to do
To make it, baby.
Chorus:
You gotta cry tough
Out on the streets
To make your dreams happen
You gotta cry out
Out to the world
To make them all come true.
Life aint no easy ride
At least thats what I am told
Sometimes the rainbow baby
Is better than the pot of gold
Youve got to stick it out
Whether youre wrong or right
And you cant give in without a fight
To make it baby
Chorus
You gotta aim high, baby
Whether you lose or win
And when you get to the top
You gotta get off or go right back down again

Don't wanna wait til tomorrow,
Why put it off another day?
One more walk through problems,
Built up, and stand in our way ,ah
One step ahead, one step behind me
Now you gotta run to get even
Make future plans, don't dream about yesterday, hey
C'mon turn, turn this thing around
Right now, hey
It's your tomorrow
Right now,
C'mon,it's everything
Right now,
Catch a magic moment, do it
Right here and now
It means everything
Miss the beat, you lose the rhythm,
And nothing falls into place, no
Only missed by a fraction,
Slipped a little off your pace, oh,
The more things you get, the more you want,
Just trade in one for the other,
Workin so hard, to make it easier, whoa,
Got to turn, c'mon turn this thing around
Right now, hey
It's your tomorrow
Right now,
C'mon, it's everything
Right now,
Catch that magic moment, do it
Right here and now
It means everything
It's enlightened me, right now
What are you waitin for
Oh, yeah, right now
(Solo)
Right now, hey
It's your tomorrow
Right now,
C'mon, it's everything
Right now,
Catch that magic moment, and do it right,
Right now
Right now, oh, Right now
It's what's happening?
Right here and now
Right now
It's right now
Oh,
Tell me, what are you waiting for
Turn this thing around

I don't listen to much music now adays. I began reading books about motivation and I was really impressed by "Think and Grow Rich" . I went ahead and ordered the audio book from Amazon for about $15. This gives me motivation listening to a great man while driving looking at houses.
I grew up listening to rap because that's what I was around and is what sounded good. I also watched a lot of tv because I was lonely most of the time. I wish I poisoned my mind a little less because I would be further in life. However; you can't change the past only the future.
I just think it is funny how I did a 360 with what I put in my mind through hearing. I went from listening to 2pac to Napoleon Hill. I know that there is some descent rap and other music genres that actually speak a message. It is just sad that a lot of people all they know and think life is about is what they hear through environmental sources.

I will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me
Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Stevie Wonder.......Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Like a fool I went and stayed too long
Now I'm wondering if your love's still strong
Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!
Then that time I went and said goodbye
Now I'm back and not ashamed to cry
Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!
Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)
Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)
I've done a lot of foolish things
That I really didn't mean, didn't I?
Seen a lot of things in this old world
When I touch them, they mean nothing, girl
Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!
Oowee baby, you set my soul on fire
That's why I know you're my heart's only desire
Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)
Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours..............

ONLY SIXTEEN
Dr Hook
She was only sixteen, only sixteen
But I loved her so
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
We'd laugh and we'd sing and do funny things
And it made our hearts glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
So why did I give my heart so fast
It never will happen again
But I was a mere child of sixteen
I've aged a year since then
She was only sixteen, only sixteen
Ooh, with eyes that would glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
So why did I give my heart so fast
It never will happen again
But I was a mere child of sixteen
I've aged a year since then
Now she was only sixteen, only sixteen
Ooh, but I loved that girl so
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
Yes, she was too young to fall in love
And I, I was too young
I was much too young to know

INDY, great post! Sometimes we need a little deflection from the harsh realities of real estate investing, and song can serve that purpose. But I'm afraid I'm getting a little emotional. Most of these songs take me back in time with lots of wonderful memories---thanks everyone for sharing those great tunes, with lyrics and all. You guys have great memories, and you're my motivation. We're also dating ourselves here.
The day I closed my first rental property I distinctly remember singing along to "Winds of Change", by Rush. It's not a popular song, but that day I had no idea how much my life would change as the winds of change blew my way. To this day I think of that song any time I get near a closing, and it has become a bit of a motivational anthem for me. But I have to say in these difficult economic times with the prospect of higher taxes looming in our future. I'm afraid all I can think of is "Taxman" by the Beatles, and "If Ten Percent Is Good Enough For Jesus It Ought To Be Enough For Uncle Sam" by Ray Stevens. Beleive it or not those are excellent motivational songs because as you all know real estate is the best tax shelter on the planet, and those songs motivate me to buy, buy, buy more, and say goodbye to taxes. My accountant alwaws says, "If you're paying taxes you don't own enough real estate." "...should 5% appear to small, be thankful I don't take it all, Taxmannnn is the heat. Cause I'm the taxmannn, yeah I'm the taxmannn, and you're working for no one but me. If that isn't motivation I don't know what is.
As Bob Hope would say, "Thanks for the memories"
You guys are the greatest!!!!
KNOWLEDGE FUELED BY EMOTION EQUALS ACTION, BUT IT IS ACTION THAT ENSURES RESULTS.
Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles.
Hi Joe,
I have a lot of songs that motivate me. The 2 songs that I really like are "Soulshine" by Gov't Mule. Just Google Soulshine and listen. The second one is "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart. They say that song is an old Scottish prayer.

I'm just seeing this post and thought I'd weigh in. My motivation song is "I am Woman" by Helen Reddy. It was the song I chose to listen to as I drove down the road pursuing my lifelong dream of "running away" and joining the circus as I did a few years ago and it's still a good one when I am tackling something big, like real estate investing!

"Somewhere Over The Rainbow"
By Israel Kamakawiwo Ole'
(Bruddah IZ)
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby ii ii iii
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Dreams really do come true ooh ooooh
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me ee ee eeh
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops thats where you'll find me oh
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dream that you dare to,why, oh why can't I? i iiii
Well I see trees of green and
Red roses too,
I'll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark and I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I...I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more
Than we'll know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world (w)oohoorld
Someday I'll wish upon a star,
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top that's where you'll find me
Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I? I hiii ?

Indy, I know you have had some success in your real estate investing early on, and I know you have much, much more comming your way. I say this because you are the most optimistic person on this site. YOUR OPTIMISM IS INFECTIOUS and it always encourages me to press on like a good soldier. Whenever I have a bad day I know I can go to your voluminous posts and get pumped. You ought to be commended for your unwavering and undanted commitment to REI and to your fellow investors here. Your posts are not only uplifting, they are always educational. And I for one need all the education I can get. I salute you, my friend and comrade.
Today was on of those days, and the lyrics you provided here of "Somewhere over the rainbow" pulled me out of my despair, and self-pity I might add, and made me see things clear again---yeah, "what a wonderful world." Sure, no-matter how much success we may have, and I've had my share, some days the Bear gets us. But, I'm just glad the "wonderful world" is filled with people like you. In my world I see givers and I see takers---you my friend are a giver. I drink to your success.
My song for today is U2's "It's a beautiful day" Don't let it get away!
Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero - "seize the day and place no trust in tomorrow."
"Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of."

Toooo many!
I enjoy many genres from many eras...
But for getting MOTIVIZED (a schmoosh of motivated+energized), high-energy songs from classic rock bands do the trick!
AC/DC
Hendrix
Queen
Steve Miller Band
The Who
The Zep
And who could leave out little stevie's "superstition"?
Great idea, Joe. My favorite motivational songs are " The Impossible Dream" from the broadway muscial, " Man of La Mancha", and the theme song from the sci-fi series, "Enterprise," entiled "Faith of the Heart." Thanks for reminding me and the others.
