Questions to ask REO agent to assess offer amount

Guys,

I've used Dean's format and questions on assessing a pre-foreclosure, but does anyone have any advise as to what questions that should be asked when inquiring to REO agents?

Speaking of...

Are REO agents allowed to disclose what the bank bought the property back for?

Can anyone give me info about public records? Can I go to the courthouse and find out what the original mortgage was on the property?... Does it vary by state?
