Hi!
I am a college student, with maybe one day a week free to concentrate on this, maybe two if I am lucky. I have always been interested in Real Estate, and at a younger age, wanted to be an investor. I did not grow up in the best of environments, nor did we have alot of the basics. I have made it this far on my own, and even with the doubters getting their two-cents in about the market, I made a choice because I believe that this can work for me.
I have not done any deals yet. I do not have the best credit, nor do I have any savings. Is there any advise out there from anyone. Anything contributed will be very useful. I can't wait to do my first deal, and tell all about it!!!
I am very new to this myself, but have some advantages over you that I need not mention. My advice would be for you to read all you can on this site. It may be confusing at first, but for you it may be like putting together a jigzaw puzzle. At first you can't see the picture, except on the box,
so you follow it as a guide. But after putting enough pieces together, the picture starts to form for you. Don't expect fast results, without a lot
of prep work first. That takes time. Do what you can, but at least do something. If nothing else,
keep reading.
Welcome to the DG family!
You've made a good decision in starting now to get going in Real Estate Investing!
And Pastor Greg gave great advice (I love the jigsaw puzzle analogy!).
Make sure you have read the book and jump in here to learn more, then get out there start learning by DOING.
Wish you well!!!
Rina

Since Rina already welcomed you into DG family, i would like to say you have come to the right place. The only advantage that you have now over us is that your much younger than me, Rina and Pastor Greg, lol. Oops, sorry Rina and Pastor, didn't mean to make you guys feel that much older, lol. I wish i could have gotten involved in real estate investing five or ten years ago. I would have gootten far ahead in life right now.
Kevin, take as much information as you can and get the book first if you haven't gotten it. The book has become my best friend ever since i got involved in real estate and i can't leave home without it. It goes with me everywhere i go. I take it to work, my friends house, church and in my car with me everyday, and when i'm home, it goes in the house with me. I love Paster Greg's anology and the puzzle. That's the fundamental principle about anything. We all have to learn how to craw before we can walk. We started kindergarden before we get into elementry school, and so forth. Real Estate is the same thing, and people on this site are very much in the same boat with you, as Pastor Greg pointed out. Learn as much as you can and feel free to ask questions and we'll walk with you along the way. I just got involved in real estate investing in March 2008, and so far has been a great ride and i have purchased quite a few properties along the way. Good luck!

You don't need credit or money to do this, just the know-how and to able to take action. If you have those you WILL succeed. It doesn't matter what age you are. NOW is the best time to invest... Since your time is very limited work smart, not hard.
Good luck and God bless,
Elena
