What does it mean for me to be apart of something bigger than myself (espeecially the DG family)??

In one word: REDEMPTION.

When I 1st signed up for the journey on real estate, I was in a very bad way--I had lost my job, lost my way emotionally, I was homeless (I was living in a hotel room but I hardly call that a place to live), was having issues with my boyfriend, AND my daughter was very sick. I was forced to put aside my journey (and my dreams) in order to take care of my daughter and try to get my life and my world back on track. It hurt me since it meant I couldn't do what I really wanted to do and that was pursue my real estate dreams.

For me, being a part of the DG family has given me the chance to jump start my journey and go forward in attaining my goals and making my life really mean something. I am now able to see things as they really are and not as I would like for them to be. Everyone on the site (be they newbies or established members) asks the right questions, gives thoughtful commentary, encourages you when you can't see your way clearly, makes you laugh when you have days when a good laugh is truly necessary, and all the way around help you to make things happen in your journey.

Being a part of the DG site/family gives me the rare opportunity to redeem myself and reinvent who I am and thus be able to do things I wasn't able to do before. I don't want to think or go though what I did previously but I also don't want to remain mired in negativity or find myself stuck in bad habits. The words of wisdom that come not only from Dean but from many of the "old timers" (and I mean that in a VERY complimentary way, lol) give me the knowledge and the tools to overcome many obstacles that have popped up. I may not be where I want but I refuse to go back to where I used to be. And for me that is all about redemption and redeeming myself: in the eyes of my family, my friends, any negative naysayers, my community, the DG family, but most importantly for me. And for that I can only say thank you (though thanks can NEVER completely cover how I feel, but it IS a good start). Thanks Dean and the DG family-at-large: I probably won't get chosen to win a prize and my words will not be awe inspiring to ensure that I get to meet Dean at some point--but if one person who is struggling with their real estate dreams finds something to take away from my words then I will have won an even greater prize: REDEMPTION. I HAVE STARTED A SMALL REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT GROUP WITH CO-WORKERS AND HAVE USED THE ADVICE OF SOME OF YOUR FRIENDS ON HOW TO IMPROVE MY CREDIT AND I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE MY FIRST PIECE OF RENTAL PROPERTY IN NEXT 2 MONTHS OR SO. I'm very excited to be here we are going to our first in Des Monies Iowa and after watching this video Im pumped up. I have watched Dean for a long time on TV and finally decided to go to a meeting, honestly after watching this couple I hope I will be kicking myself in the backside for waiting this long. I posted this video on Facebook told my friend I think this is the one so they will be hounding me to see if it is, talk about pressure! Looking forward to our first Seminar! Im getting other stuff out of the way in order to be more involved in this group that is part of something bigger ~ in this realm. This is my next life, LOL.

I was a real estate investor since I was 28 yrs old; and I wanted to grow it bigger, but life happened and instead, I made a successful career with great jobs in state government while I bought/sold/owned/managed several local income properties for 25 years ~ and I retired very young with a pension. I have my own business now that Ive worked six years and it's successful and almost on autopilot at this point in time (to supplement my pension). My income properties have all been sold.

I want to go about it a different way this time (using the 'tech' tools available now!)

I will share this blog on facebook (Marilyn Curtis Syracuse) AND twitter (@marcurtis), because if any of my current friends are involved in re investing currently - I hope they join in here, and get in touch with me specifically about the topic.

This video really helped me and gave me alot more to think about i'm still pressing foward and not giving up,but i know i will get my first deal soon and i have a team of like minded investers that i work with that's pointing me in the right direction in order to succeed you have to fail and i always think about everytime i'm out and about looking for deals.

I have been before and she did get the cd for tax liens and when she has time we'll get into that. Part of our community is sharing so much. I've shared your videos with others because of their messages not just the work of investment in property, it's a message of investing in ourselves

I have been a part of your DG family for quite some time now. I haven't gotten a deal done yet but will continue to work on it always and always 'til I get one done, then it will be easier to continue on and on and on and on. Yes, you have the best information and are the most real, and down to earth millionaire that I have encountered. People I know who make only a few hundred thousand a year are the Snootiest people, and think they are special and above the rest of us. That is not you!!

To me, being part of "something bigger" than me is extremely important for several reasons. I'm a big "family guy". Not only do I have an incredible "biological" family but my extended family of friends is amazing. My DG family is equally amazing. You people ARE my "something bigger". I rejoice at your success and I pull for you when you're struggling. I know I'm not alone...and I feel that and appreciate it in ways I can't properly express. My family keeps me motivated, keeps me humble, keeps me informed and keeps me going.

Detemination and drive will reap rewards

Love Dean's blog every week, it keeps me positive even with all the negative around me. I want the ipad so i can sell it.

Every week I watch a video I am enlightened and encouraged even the more. My partner and I feel like we are at a standstill because the funds have gotten so tight for us that we are unable to do anything. But watching these videos causes me to em

It means I am not alone, and that I have many power sources I can tap into to not only stay motivated and inspired, but to get things done. It means the negative comments that I receive have less power over me.

Being part of a like minded group provides me with the energy and courage to not only defend my decisions, but to begin the process of making things happen. It is empowerment.

What an awesome Blog. It inspires me every week. I am so thankful that I have found a website that has so many members who want to be a part of something big and that also wants to share something big.

Every time I have a slight doubt, I think about all of the folks on this site who are successful because they took action and are around like minded people.

Three deals are now complete and looking to close two more within the next two weeks. Couldn't have done it without DG.

Real estate is a crazy business and those of us who are full time work 7-day weeks. It's refreshing and encouraging to have Dean as our cheerleader - someone who thinks outside the box and has a vision for opportunity. A friend recommended Dean's site and I appreciate that referral.

to getting started again!!

We have been landlords of 2 rental properties from inheritance for 20 some years, so we are not new to the subject. But when the economy, as well as, the stock market starting showing a big turn, we said this has got to change for us. Then one of Dean's seminars came to our area. Wow, when we attended, the light bulb came on. Yes, we had heard of this before, but thought just another pyramid scam that we got into too late. Well, take another look at RE. We decided it was the perfect time. With encouragement from the team, we researched areas within our reach and found a perfect investment area with all the fixins the team talks about. It was terrifying to spend our investment dollars (it was all we had for retirement). We got out of the market, bought RE, and now have a much better return for the money. Being self employed and under 55, we know that there will be nothing for us, except what we prepare for. My husband told me when we started this, "when our RE business can meet his income, he will retire."
We now own 6 duplexes and one house (totaling 13 incomes) in a period of 8 months. All are paid for except 3 duplexes, which will pay for themselves in less than 5 years. All units are fully rented and we have built a team that can accommodate the needs of my tenants since we are 1 1/2 hours away. When my business partner/husband retires in a few years, we will move there and live off of the income.
Thanks to Dean and his team, I could never have taken the plunge. That first deal, there just aren't words to describe it. Once we did the first deal, the confidence is like a drug--I can do this, and and you can do this.

Dean, your weekly wisdom WOWS me! It is so important (more than words can express) to be able to go to DG.com and recharge my happiness, my ambition, my "I WANT THIS!" so I can help others too! I see your emails and immediately get happy just knowing you are there to help me, and the DG family is always there to back me up, encourage me, help me, I mean . . . this is HUGE! I've never seen so much encouragement all bound up in one place! The RE community you've built here is an EMPIRE that I'm so grateful to be a part of. I've bought the books, the RBB, and now I've quit my job to focus on happily learning and doing what I need to do to make this happen. Those of you who have jobs and are trying RE, well, my congrats to you and "hats off" if you will. See, my previous two jobs literally drained me of any happiness by days-end, they sucked the life out of me, and I figure the only way for me to succeed is to get away from that negativeness, and the life-sucking way of the world goes away when I connect with my DG family. I love you, all of you so much and I can't wait until my day comes! I want to change lives, including my own - and I know the DG way is the ONLY WAY! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart <3
