Bandit Signs

willowme's picture

I wanted to tell you that last weekend we got our signs up. Within 1 hour our first call came it. 1 HOUR! I used tbe formula in your book and made an offer. Then made another 2 as other calls came in. I was scared but just followed what you said to do. it was easier than I expected. we haven't found a perfect deal yet, but keep counting down for 25 and expect to have a local deal on the table soon.

We did bandit signs before but didn't follow the directions and didn't get the calls like were getting now. We learned our lessons. Now were following your directions to the letter.

Thanks Dean for the great advice. Wer'e on our way.

Great Blog Dean:
I am right on board with you Dean. I've been saying this since Grade School, way back when, that if the learning process is not in the least bit fun, it is only drudgery that you cannot wait to get finished with. But if it is something you have fun doing, it is really not work and you are not going to mind burning the midnight oil,in order to get the job done.
What I have decided to do to keep my interests in Real Estate is, I walk different neighborhoods looking at all the Christmas decorations. While I am doing that, I look at the design of the house and ask myself if I would ever want to live in a house like that. Now mind you Dean, most of these homes range anywhere from 4 TO $700,000. and in most cases I cannot see myself comfortable with a sprawling two story 5 bedroom house.
There was one little 2000 square foot U shaped Ranch style home that actually caught my eye.
I remembered it's basic design and features then went home and started drawing up floorplans laying out the house the way I would like it to be. Tons of closet space, vaulted ceilings, patio door, fireplace ,on and on and on.
It might not be a cookie cutter design with the rest of the houses in that neighborhood, but I believe it would suit me right down to the very ground I'm standing on.
"Now",I've taken the game to the next level"lets see how many features we could give it without it becoming to cluttered.
It is my dream home I intend to build some day. Now all I've gotta do is figure how I can afford it. And oddly enough Dean, it has many similarities to that ramble shack you bought back in 08 and replaced it with a nice one level, hillside style ranch property.
The point is, if your not having fun doing what your doing, then you really need to think about a line of work that is.
I can't think of anything more exciting then creating and owning your very own dream. Can you ?

Pretty darn cool Dean!

So I gotta say Dean, from all the Weekly Wisdom Blogs that I've seen, this one surely sparked an "Ah Ha" moment for me. I too have always enjoyed scavenger hunts as a kid, especially doing them with my church youth group. And I must say they are an effective way to get engaged with something really fun and worth going after.

I really think this opportunity is something so special and important to me, I will give it a try for two reasons:
1) As part of my several reasons that I included in the 7 Levels Deep exercise, I owe it to myself and my future to take action and be successful the rest of my life.

2) As I was scrolling down the comments of this week's Weekly Wisdom Blog, it turns out that I was able to stumble upon a NEW DGer, who believe it or not, is from the SAME EXACT CITY as me of Huntington Beach, CA. And I don't think it was blind luck or a coincidence, I truly think it was fate and that I was meant to connect with him. So pretty much I just found myself a scavenger partner and a new friend! Smiling

Thanks again Dean for another awesome and inspiring Weekly Wisdom Blog, that I will sure take with me and run with it. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Andre

Probate is a scavenger hunt of sorts??

Hi Dean... consistent Weekly Wisdom watcher. Always gain from.

Made me think finding properties from probate is a bit of a scavenger hunt. Our 1st hunt pretty successful as sent 10-letters to Personal Reps and got 1-reply. One of those just-want-to-get-rid-of the property deals. Actually offering to buy really does clean up a lot of problems for owner and relieves a huge stress load. Looks like a true win-win. Should close on 12-28... 1st deal since becoming DG student last March.

Like the helpful info in all your training avenues. Really like the ongoing encouragement and ideas through Weekly Wisdom. Knew this would work. Is beginning to. Thanks

Great idea!

I do love scavenger hunts! I've already started on my scavenger list...now all I need is a partner to race with.
Thanks Dean!

putting it off

Tina, putting off the everyday chores and declining social events has been the hardest thing for me. Even though I know deep down, that's what it's going to take for me to get this adventure off the ground. You've allowed me to justify a few dirty dishes and messy rooms as long as i'm using my time wisely. Now I just need to get over the fear of that first phone call....Yikes!

Thanks Tina!
Cindy

the huntz..

Dear Dean,
That was a great idea giving myself "prizes" as I accomlish goals.

I want to vear off a little though. Today was one of "those " days. Working as an emt, dealing with all the sick people, the hum drum of my "bosses" being somewherethat does not equal eventual financial freedom and the ability to live my dreams and help as many people as i can,
all that was bumbing me out. However, I stoped and thought I began to tell my self I am doing it slowly surley things MUSt change! I an watching the gain the EDGE cd's I am scouting houses I am telling every one I am a realestate investor. Then, I saw a homeless man on the street and felt SOOOO silly for even being down or feeling sad> Just wanted to say thank you for your continued insperation>
I am>> an I can!

Finding Somebody To Work With,

Great Idea, now I am raking my brain for someone to call. Thank you for this message.

Todays Blog

Sounds like a great challenge that could even work for someone who is going solo(at least for now). I got the "30 days to Real Estate Cash" and have read it. All the while trying to find some part time work and fulfill my Christmas responsilbilities. 30 days seemed too quick for me. But 60 or 90 is quite do-able, even if I am only earning part time wages for now. I have said it on here before and I am going to say it again----I believe in you Dean. I can and will do this and may even get out of an RV (yeah I have been reduced to living in an RV and never thought that could happen to me) that I am currently living in. I wish I could afford more training but for now I can take the "baby steps" necessary. From there I will grow or should I say transform into a self made real estate entrepreneur. Thanks Dean for being real and for giving us the facts on how to begin and how to grow. Sincerely, Donnie Johnson Castro Valley, CA

Sounds like Fun

Thanks Dean I will try it, hide and seek, whatever it takes. Must look for creative ways to prosper. Have A Great Week.

You inspire me to want to tap into my potentential which I know every single person has inside of them. I admit I have doubts but if other people have done it, darn it so can I. I have a goal which is my own 5 year old daughter, she presently is living with my parents till I can get on my feet to be able to provide for her, she is my "WHY", she dump the negative and cultivate the positive, its all in my head and I can either let the hardships in life dictate my future or change it to get to the place in life I want to be. God Bless you Dean for your weekly words of wisdom, they help me more than you know.

It doesn't have to be a group

myhandscanhelp's picture

Hello my name is Jarrad and I saw your reply on yesterday's weekly Wisdom
and just wanted to suggest that it doesn't have to be a group thing.
like Dean was saying just find a person who you look up to or just someone that you want to share your progress with. Then make your list of goals, and when you check one of those things off of the list call that person to share it with them. Maybe even if it is a big goal that you accomplish take that person out to lunch or some thing like that to celibate your victory, that's all. It really doesn't need to a group thing just self motivation through a game like method to keep it more exciting, you know. Smiling
hope this helps and doesn't come across to strong. good luck to you in your endeavors.
your friend Jarrad

Thanks so Much

THANK YOU DEAN

just wanted to let you know I've watched your blogs and you make me feel better about myself.
I've a number of bad years in the past but they are behind me now. In 2012 this is going to be my year thanks to you. I now close my ears to negative people. And I plan this year to thank you in person.

Kindest regards
And the best wishes to you and your family

It's All About Getting Motivated

Thanks Dean as always for taking the time to ensure that REI is at the forefront of our minds even during the holiday season. It must be exciting spending time with the family. It is the little things that children do with their parents that they remember, never the lavish stuff. The treasure hunt is a stimulating idea for good competition. It also means providing an outcome from a desired process. The example of a ninety day time-line is quite realistic. Thanks again, great blog.

Sandra

Thankyou Dean

Thanks for taking the time to give your Weekly widsom.Always look forward to hearing from you. Also thanks for the reminder that you read every single reply. As you may recall I had to take a job however looked at a house after work and called my buyers agent and she showed me the inside.Your Wisdom was right there with me.I told her the stragety I wanted to use was Hard money with the no season refi and offer $65,000.She started telling me he would want his asking price of $95,000 and I should go the traditional route.Because of you I will remain firm and even drop my price if this place is in a flood plane.Thankyou Dean and some day soon I will be on my way.Anthony2010

You just put in all into perspective for me. I was a Youth Director and Church Planner for 40 years. I need to come up with a plan for success in real estate. I know I need to take one step at a time. I need to organize the steps, then fill in the blanks.
By the way, your children are the luckiest people in the world. Not only do you have the finances to do exactly what you want to do, you do it. You are truly a man of action. You pick me up every time I hear from you. I feel honored to have you as a friend.
I am working through some pretty difficult things in my life right now, but I am taking them one day at a time. I'll fill you in on the details when I become successful in real estate.

love it

back to baby steps - never never forget them no matter what stage your development. Love the idea of finding the buyers!!!!!! Can compete with yourself in finding 1 a day, then 2, then 3, and on up (or something like that).

Have a great week everyone and keep on climbing!
