A young woman I'm acquainted with decided two years ago that she was going to establish a sales agency to sell mobile homes. She was advised by many that she shouldn't and couldn't do it. She has less than $3,000 in savings, and was advised the minimum capital investment required was many times that. "Look how competitive it is," she was told and besides, what practical experience have you had in selling mobile homes, let alone managing a business?" her advisors asked. Buy she belived in herself and her ability to succeed.

Believe you can reach the top
December 16th, 2009 | posted by scarlsonPeople start working in new jobs. Each person wishes that someday they could enjoy the success that goes with reaching the top. But the majority of people simply don't have the belief that it takes to reach the top. And they don't reach the top. Believing it's impossible to climb high, they do not discover the steps that lead to great heights. Their behavior remains that of the average person. But some people really believe they will succeed. Thery approach their work with the "I'm-going-to-the-top"attitude. And with substantial belief they reach the top.

Move a Mountain?
December 16th, 2009 | posted by scarlsonIt's nonsense to think you can make a mountain move away just by saying "Mountain move away." It's simply impossible." This is wishful thinking. And true enough, you can't wish away a mountain. YOu can't wish yourself into an exedutive suite. Nor can you wish yourself into a position of leadership. But you can move a mountain with belief. You can win success by believing you can succeed. There is nothing magical nor mystical abut the power of belief. Belief wouks this way. Belief, the "Im-positive-I-can?

WASHINGTON - If you're in trouble on your mortgage and you can't get a loan modification, check out the Obama administration's new standardized short sale plan that's scheduled to roll out during the coming several months.
The program, outlined Dec. 1 by the Treasury Department, is an attempt to streamline what has traditionally been a contentious, time-consuming process by requiring lenders and others to use nationally uniform documents, timelines and financial incentives.

Don't delay fixing a problem
December 1st, 2009 | posted by scarlsonWhile you might put up with a leaky toilet for weeks, a tenant who feels he of she is paying big bucks for the property won't put up with it at all. When tenants want things fixed, they want them fixed yesterday. If you don't respond and at least make the attempt to promptly correct the situaltin, you could lose your tenant.

Charge for late payments
December 1st, 2009 | posted by scarlsonCharging a late fee sometimes works for tenants who are always late. In any event it's a good idea to include it in every rental agreement you write. The penalty typically takes this form: In the rental agreement you include a clause that says if that tenant does not get the rent in by a certain number of days after the due date (typically five days grace is given), there is a penalty. The penalty is usually $50 or 5 percent of the rent, whichever is smaller.
