Hello Everyone,
I know a lot of people who venture into real estate goes through a phase of information overload. I have dean's course with the training and even with that it seems like there is another course that gives more information (or insider secrets) to help you succeed. (Even within the DG Family)
But, it kind of makes you feel like certain information is left out on purpose and that, that bit of extra information is what will help you succeed. Then you get more information, and then there is more information that will help you succeed quicker "If you're serious about your real estate investing".
I just want to know how people have been able to block out all the information, focus on one product and move forward to be successful, without buying into the world of information overload which tends to create inertia.
Hi Eriq pick a area you want to start in like wholesaling or assignments or bird dogging, muti families, ect and look for all info that will help you in that area, keep it simple and when you get more experience expand to another area of interest, your in school so take it at a pace you can learn and get some experience, you need to start some where but you need to start and take action!!!!!!!!, Jim

I was going through the same phase several years ago. I had read Dean's books and had been in the Success Academy for about 4 months. I will never forget the night that while studying a Success Academy class I turned to my wife and said:
"The only way I am going to learn how to ACTUALLY do this business is to go out and try to get a property under contract"
For me anyway, I had to get out and meet people, look at and evaluate properties that I went to, looking at them personally. I am still learning today, some 100 deals later. I DID NOT have to know everything to do this, I DID have to overcome the FEAR. I did have to talk to people when I did not have the answer to every question or know every strategy
There is no MAGIC BUTTON or training that can do for you what you need to do!
Once you have learned the BASIC theory of REI, taking action is the ONLY
way to succeed. I know people that have spent $50,000 on educational products and still need someone to give them a pep talk. They will NEVER make it in this business.
Like ANY business venture, you have to really WANT it bad enough to REALLY do it!!

he is always encouraging me to just get out there and "just do it." As for the overload; I know what you are talking about, but here is what I do. Okay, I sometimes feel it is overload, but sometimes I feel it is repetition and that is how I learn. I feel that I have probably reached the point where I can actually do this now. I have a sense about what I am doing. But as Michael states , you do have to do things and tweak to get where your going. We have a path, but depending on what we are doing, and where we live, we may have to readjust. For example, some people say where they live the craigslist works best, but other places it does not. Now you will just have to keep trying to really know though. For example I haven;t had much success with craigslist where I live, but I haven't given up on posting ads there, because I see ads for homes, so figure something, possibly my ads needs tweaking, or I need to post more places on craigslist and more often, possibly daily.

You'll fail at this, without a doubt, everyone does! But the more failures you have, the closer you are to succeeding! You learn what NOT to do by failing, and you just grow from that.
Let's say you mess up the first time you talk to a Realtor. Let's face it, he or she will not remember you in a month, and they also aren't going to call every other Realtor up and say DON'T WORK WITH THIS PERSON!
Just get a bunch of "no's" and you'll be right around the corner to a "yes"!

ssshhhhh don't tell anyone. But there is a secret. One key piece that unlocks the doors. That makes it all tie together. That when you apply this simple yet effective 'secret'.....THAT'S when the actual magic starts to happen.
Secret is........It's the WORK! That is the single most common piece that is missing from those getting results to those that are frustrated, negative, say REI doesn't work, etc. It's that the work isn't being put forth.
The work I am referring to is this: get buyers, get good deals, get paid.
Heard Matt say one time (might have been at the Edge or IE, not sure). (But I will paraphrase) "Any problem you are having in your business or anything wanting to be obtained can be solved with two things: 1) more offers 2) better buyers"
That simple.
Education is extremely important!! but what I've seen is that alot will mask fear with education. Rather than take a step, they take another class.
