I do not know if this is what you want to hear or not but here we go. Stop things that waist your time like partys. Stop watching TV unless the Chicago Bears are playing. Get up out of bed in the morning and do somthing contstuctive. Stop hanging out with people that are not of the same goal set as you are.

The bottom line here is if, what you are doing does not help you reach your goals then, remove that stuff from your life.

If you do not have Dean's book Totally Fullfilled get it and read it. If you have it read it again I believe it has the information you want.

Take care Gerard

Gerard,

I am dealing with too much demand and too little supply in the time market, too. I had to approach my time usage the same way I handle monetary budgeting. I tracked my time for a week and identified waste. I drew up a week on piece of paper and blocked out time for learning, action, and other productive activities.

I found that I spent a lot of time checking emails which sidetracked me into further distraction from necessary tasks. So, I check and respond to emails in the morning and at night. That's it. I save myself an hour a day by adopting this approach. I also limit interruptions from texts, responding briefly rather than getting into long text chats. (Of course, you gotta let the folk in your life know that you value them and are implementing a new approach to time management if this is a change in your habit.)

I check my ad responses and return calls twice a day. I am still trying to nail down when doing this activity is most productive in terms of reaching the folk whose calls I am returning. It's a work in progress, but I am becoming more focused and productive.

I assign time for every task I must accomplish and set reminders on an electronic calendar (MS Outlook, Thunderbird from Mozilla, or many others available for free right on your computer). When the reminder pops up, I take five minutes or less to get to a stopping place, then move on to the next assigned task.

The key for me is to be fully present in each task and action, to leave the last one alone until time to resume it again.

I hope this helps. peace,

Time management

is a lifelong pursuit. I have had periods of time where I manage my time but other times simply manage by crisis. LOL. But, depending on your level of sophistication that you wish to employ, there are different systems out there.

Day-Timers and Franklin Covey make up the largest group of physical planners but if you are tech based, you could consider looking for smart phone apps or computer programs that can help you as well. Just google what you what to find.

However, time management is always going to be based on your efficient use of your time blocks and that is something that you have to find within yourself.

Thanks Everyone

Steve thank you for the advice, your right, everything you said are principles we strongly believe in right from the beginning. We alway wonder why other people waste their time on those actives.

But what is tough for us is the on going assignments from college /grad school. keeping up with A's & B's and trying to run a business with REI.

If only we can just narrow down the time management skills and do what Dean teach us in those times we will be able to pull this off.

It's a big Challange when you are studying for classes, do the assignments, take muiltple exams in one day,and ETC..

It tough It's not easy but It's worth it. I don't want to become Real estate investors, I need to become a Real Estate Investor.

We have to close on our first deal.

Thanks Michael Mangham, Thanks Dana, Thanks Trustpoint & Steve.

You guys Thank you so much For the response this is really helpful infomation!
God Bless all of you!

I honestly believe that this issue is one of the top causes that keeps newbies REI from getting into their first deal.

Gerard

I am glad to hear you are not waisting time in the actives I was telling you about. There is a lot of other great information given from the others that posted. Remember this we all have the same 24 hours in a day you just have to put the most important things first. Right now I would say your studies in college are the most important the REI will come soon.

Steve.

That's not an option for me...

thanks Steve but that's not an option for me, I know there is a way to make this work een if i have school work upto the top of my nose. my life style need to change and fast.

I have already started and I will not quit now...

Time management

How about finding bird dogs to bring deals to you guys? They do the legwork and bring you the deals and if you use their leads, when you close on the deal you pay them a finder's fee.... Just a thought

Hey Guys

I just got back from the buying summit in Vegas, one of the speakers was Robert Shemin. He spoke about time mgmt and told us to track our time, all of it. You have to set time for school work, set time for RE Investing and working your business and stop the partying if there is any. He also said to set up your week like this: Divide your week into 3 types of days

1 Focus - What brings your business the most money (2 - 3 days/wk)
2 Buffer - You do cleanup - filing, finishing deals, etc. (2 - 3 days/wk)
3 free day - Where you don't think about business, check emails or answer phones for 24 hrs. You need at least 100 free days per yr. (1 - 2 days /wk)

I just started this today and you would be surprised how much waisted time we have during an average work day. Definately a wake up call. I hope this helps some

Shaun, I think I'll employ

Shaun, I think I'll employ that as well. Smiling

Also Gerard, Dan Kennedy has a time management book. (if you were looking for something in writing to help you lay a foundation) However, what has been said on here is great if you apply it.

Hope that helps.

I gave this plan on here to

I gave this plan on here to some one once before but I don't remember who or where.

But if you get a day planner and make a list of what you need to do.

Now we all know your not going to devote whole days to one thing,so mark things down in the manner of importance.

Fill in two hour blocks of time for each different thing you want to do.

Example
look for properties
read and return emails
call fsbo ads
do your school work
etc,etc,

But the trick is no matter what, if you still have more of those things to do
you stop at the two hours. The rest goes to the next day or day after. The thing is you have nibbled away at a10/12 hour job that you keep putting off and it never gets done.

Then start the next task on your day planner, if you do this every day after a couple of weeks you will only need an hour or 1/2 hour to stay on top of everything.

Be on time

or be early.

College is the best time to buy real estate; you can live in one apartment or home and rent out the others to friends or fellow college students.

Bought my first in my second year and while it was tough, it was the greatest experience ever. Its there where you learn the art of......The Barter System

While I was in school I worked with other college students who painted, worked as contractors, electricians, etc. Just have to think outside the box on making things work.

Not going to give you a pep talk or waste an entire paragraph trying to convince you to do it; I will say that if you want it, you'll find both the way and time to do it. If you keep telling yourself and others you can't, you never wanted it to begin with.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys

Wow you guys thanks agai, for the input, this is really helpful. Elix I agree with you how bad do I want this, really really bad!
This is why I my self out here like this the more helpful response we get the closer we are in making our dreams come true.

Dean just posted a GREAT

Dean just posted a GREAT blog about this in a way. I highly suggest watching it and using that technique to manage your tasks. This way you wont forget them, will be less stressed, and can knock a few off per day.
