Asked for my credit score

Asked for my credit score

I have a lot for sale and I got a call on it yesterday.
The man asked the usual questions and then he wanted my credit score. I told him I was not comfortable with that. I did not see the relevance of my score when I am not asking for a loan.
Has anyone here had that happen?
He claims to have buyers in every state so I sure hope he is on the up and up.
Thanks for any input.

No Relevance

I agree that there's no relevance with him needing your credit score since you're selling the property.
I am aware that credit checks/scores now play a huge role in not only purchases, but also in employment. Many companies will not hire people if their credit scores are not good.
If anything you should being asking for the credit scores of potential buyers. Maybe that will put him in his place.

Weird

Did he explain why he'd need to know that about a lot he was interested in buying? That is bizarre. Maybe he was a builder and wanted to get you to build on the lot instead of sell. I would not give him the info, for sure, it is totally irrelevant as you and g stated.

his response

He said he didn't know why his buyers requested that info. Maybe his way of backing up after he realized he stepped over a line.
At any rate he did not push me on it.
Thanks.
