"Most people don't plan to fail: they fail to plan." John L. Beckley

"Most people don't plan to fail: they fail to plan." John L. Beckley

I Love this Quote:

"Most people don't plan to fail: they fail to plan." John L. Beckley

Why do I love it, because it's true. Those of you that know me know I'm obsessed with goals, accountability and being super efficient. Setting goals is always the first step to your success, but that's usually as far as people make it. We're great at dreaming our bigger better future, but usually fail to work to go after it.

As real estate investors, most of which have lives outside of investing, we have very busy lives. Things are always coming up, life is getting in the way, and next thing we know it's a month later and we have very little to show for it.

So my challenge to you all for the next 5 weeks is to Plan and Execute! So here's what I want to you to do...

1. Pick one day a week and evaluate where you are, where you want to go and come up with tasks to do to accomplish where you want to go.

2. Assign those tasks to your schedule, plan to make them happen along with your day to day life.

3. Take Action Every single day. Even if you only have 15 minutes (In 15 minutes, you can make a couple calls, you can post a ghost ad, you can get listings from a realtor, you can run some numbers on a possible deal, you can make a postlet). You'll be Amazed with what you can accomplish if you utilize every free 15 minute period you have.

4. Recap: what worked? what didn't? what requires more time? what is missing to reach your goals?

5. Plan the next week and take action once again.

Best of Success,
Andrea

Yes, insidernotes

It happens so often...we start with the best intentions, but best intentions do not get things done. You have to Choose/Plan/Execute to Get Things Done!

That is a great quote, and

That is a great quote, and so true! people often overlook just how important it is to write goals down, and then write out how they plan to see those goals achieved. It's also vital to have dates for your goals and business plans so that you can evaluate your progress. Weekly, monthly and yearly goals are what I set, and have a set time each week where I can see my progress, and what areas I need to put more time in to see my goals completed.

Oh boy!

Oh boy! You are not kidding when you wrote this;

I made calls to my lawyer today and to a certain family member to finalize certain details before I proceed..... It was a set of delays and negativity that I received but no worries because I believe in the power of NO !

What I mean by The power of NO! Is NO I refuse to be derail, discouraged and dismissed......

So I choose to redirect my focus, redirect my energy and re prioritize what gets done and who gets my attention..... Because with anything we do their is a value wether it is known or unknown

Awesome

Yes, No...is just a checkmark on the list of many calls, conversations, discussions, offers, etc. There are more to make and to power through.

I like using the terms...

Goals

This is a great plan. I think it is so important to write things down--and date them because time passes so fast and even though you think you will remember the date, it just isn't possible to remember every thing you need to. Time passes quickly-plan, make goals and implement them in order to make time your friend.
Wishing every one success!

Checking in....How's the Challenge Going

How to Create an Effective Action Plan....
Here we will detail a step-by-step guide for creating an effective action plan – with a well-designed plan and daily action, you can achieve virtually any goal you set out to accomplish.

1. Know where you’re going. Successful leaders and professionals understand a simple core concept: if you don’t know where you’re going, you’re likely to wind up anywhere.

2. Be specific. Not only must your goal be specific, but you must also create a specific intention as well as very specific tasks or steps that will move you toward the completion of that goal.

3. Create measurable milestones. Once you have a clear picture of what you’re out to accomplish, as well as what targets you will need to hit throughout the time span of the project or period, the next step is to create measurable milestones.

4. Make a list. Create a list and accompanying time line of specific action items or tasks to complete in order to hit those milestones.

5. Break large tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks. Some tasks or milestones may seem more daunting to achieve than others. That’s when it makes sense to break larger tasks down into smaller, more manageable chunks.

6. Put timelines on everything. Without specific time frames and deadlines, work will definitely expand to fill the time allotted, and some tasks may never get completed.

7. Create a visual representation - Once you’ve created your action items and set a specific timeline, the next step is to create some type of visual representation of your plan. You might use a flowchart, a Gantt chart, a spreadsheet, or some other type of business tool to accomplish this.

8. Schedule out your accomplishments. Have each person involved, grab their schedule or day planner or smart phone and schedule out their accomplishments.

9. Work your plan and don’t Stop until it’s complete. Once your plan is established, shared with the team, and accomplishments are scheduled, the next step is simple: take daily action and follow up with responsible parties to ensure that everyone is doing their part.

10. Change the date if you must, but never give up on the goal. Occasionally, circumstances or unforeseen events can arise that throw a wrench in your ability to meet deadlines, complete tasks and achieve your goal. If this happens, do not get discouraged – revise your plan and continue working to meet targets and move forward.

Best of Success,
Andrea

Val....

I know, Action Plan are not just for when you start. They are for when you take on any new adventure or any new project. Frankly, Action Plans are great for me when I just get stuck or I know I'm not growing or doing as much as I should be.

Best to you Lady!

Thank you.

Choose, Plan, Execute, Repeat. This is a great post. Thank you for this. The timing is great. Even though I am a lot more involved than previous times, this is something I want to print and keep nearby. I'm more focused and more intent than before, but these are actionable.

Glad it can help Patrick. We all get distracted by the day to day. It's good when we can slow down, evaluate and take purposeful action.

Respecting the Little People

you do actually buy a fixer upper house to sell; be sure to get accurate estimates of the renovation areas from a Licensed Contractor preferably rather than an Interior Designer, Stager or "someone who has good taste". As a Sales Consultant, I have counciled many people who didn't have a clue about the qualities of materials, color schemes or style co-ordination. Just because your instinct tell you its a "total gut" job could put you in a position to search for replacement vanities that are ultra modern or the wrong color for instance. You may need to replicate an item to suit the character of the house. In conclusion, when purchasing new items consider the"source" and don't insult a small business by expecting them to have better style offerings than the Big Box stores while selling them for the "same Prices".Style costs more than something that is "plain" and while Big Box stores have many more locations, more employees and longer hours- they BOTH have warehouse, showroom and Foreign transportation costs that small businesses CANNOT compete with unless their profits are less. When you see Sale prices at a small business; respect this handy and valuable resource so that these supply partners can share in the Community renovation project.
