Has anyone invested in the Charlotte area? I have friends who live in Rock hill SC which is a suburb of Charlotte NC. I was looking in that area and found a whole lot of cheap(NICE)homes, including a bunch of REO's. I found all this on a few websites. I haven't been down there in a while. But when I was down there, I actually fell in love w/ the area. My wife and I even talked about moving down there from NY. I'm going to Email my friend today to find out the average rent rate down there(which looks like anywhere from $300-$600)and ask her to find out about any homes for me. Then in March I should be getting a check for like 12k, and I will borrow about 20-30k from my 401k. This will give me enough money to get started, I hope. I've borrowed money from my 401k before and paid myself back w/ interest in 5 years. I may also try one of the strategies from DG's book to get started. I got to think this one over. I really have a good feeling about Rock Hill. I'm looking for a base for my homes, and hopefully It's Rock Hill. If anyone had any experiences in that area, I'd appreciate any feedback you could give me. Each day I grow more and more excited about SUCCESS!!
Thanks,
Mike

I lived in SC for many years and Rock Hill is a very nice area.
You have the benefits of a large city (Charlotte) but the warmth of smaller town living.
