My name is Mike and I am interested in investing in the San Marcos Tx area. San Marcos is located between Austin and San Antonio on what is known as the IH35 corridor. This area is predicted to be the next DFW (Dallas Fortworth). Combined with the surrounding hill country I feel there is real opportunity here in both residential and commercial real estate. San Marcos in particular is growing largely due to the increasing number of students that are attending Texas State University each year. Essentially we have a never ending stream of renters. I am new to all of this and I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar market and had any insight as to where I should start. There are for rent/lease signs all over this town and I feel I am sitting on a gold mine. I am currently reading Dean's books but thought I'd throw another line in the water!
