Graziosi philosophy
I was thinking of the late Richard Carlson who wrote a small book entitled "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff." The subtitle: "It's All Small Stuff." It really is a fantastic tiny book.
I also think of some of the great thinkers of today: Dr. Wayne Dyer and Eckart Tolle. I'm sure there are many more that I am missing as these two rushed to my mind first. My point is that each of these people are among the many that can bring themselves into the "NOW", which I am working on. In the case of Dr. Dyer, he is also a person who can meditate. I'm also working on that, as well.
In the case of your children, meditation is a difficult concept to teach, but you can teach them to count to ten before they react or overreact to certain stressful situations.
Thanks, Dean. This is a fantastic exercise.
Patrick
More for the list
1. Details are important, but don't sweat the small stuff to the point of missing out on the big stuff.
2. The Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
3. Respect your elders. They have been around the block way more times than you have.
Smile and the world will smile with you (it's contagious!)
Philosophy
Do what's right because it is right.
Philosophies
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” ― Henry Ford
Great message!
You can add this:
"Treat people the way that you would want to be treated or the way you want them to treat you"
I'm waiting for that iPhone
Dean's List Addition
Never ever give up
My addition
Failure is never an option, in order to fail you have to at least try first.
Put an "H" on your chest and handle your business.
Keep the love and light in all that you do so you become a pathway to those who wander in darkness.
My Philosophy
People remember nothing of what you tell them, half of what you do for them but ALWAYS how you make them FEEL !!
Hope this helps,
Joe
Weekly Wisdom
Philosophy: Live in the moment. Enjoy what you have.
Graziosi Philosophies
Treat others as you would like them to treat you.
Say thank you every mornng when you wake up.
Dean's List
Being a survivor of domestic abuse and having several failed long time relationships because of residual effects from that abuse:
I have learned to never give up or give in.
To pray for others, even the ones who have hurt me, before praying for myself,
To know that God has bigger plans for me, and last but not least,
To give thanks for everything even if I haven't received the blessing yet.
My Philosophy
I have 2:
1. The "Golden Rule" - Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
2. Live in the moment and enjoy it!
Thanks for all you do, Dean.
Principles I Personally Teach My Children
I have a gorgeous 7 year old son, who will be 8 in a few weeks, and a precious daughter who is 5. I came from a broken home growing up with a lot of obstacles and heart aches. When I was a teenager I had come to realize in a very peculiar situation that I would invest everything into ensuring my future children had the family and principles to live by that would crush any negative cycle from spreading to my posterity, and set them up for lasting happiness and success. That one decision was what actually ended putting me on a very fulfilling and rewarding path in life, and has been as it were my north star in teaching and raising my children, even today. I actually teach my children everything you wrote on your list and dedicate every Monday night for a "family home evening" where we pick one thing that my husband and I want to teach or help our children understand. We even get them to help teach the family as well when we have seen they have learned something valuable to them. Because of their age this only lasts for about 10-15 minutes, but we make it meaningful nevertheless.
There are three things though that I actually quickly thought of that I personally put a lot of time and effort into teaching my children and they are these, in addition to what Dean's list has:
1. Fulfill the measure of your creation.
-I often teach my children that life is not about competing with others or trying to be like someone else. We each have our own divine purpose to fulfill within this life with unique talents, skills, understandings, and perspectives that no one else has. We rob ourselves and others if we try to focus our time and attention being someone or something that we are not. Plus, this allows us to live a more gratitude filled life for who we are and who we can become. It also allows everyone to be a lot happier and praise others for their achievements and successes.
2. Have the courage to always do what you know in your heart to be right, even if you are the only one doing it.
3. We are all blessed with the freedom to choose our own choices, but we are not free to choose the consequences that come from those choices. When all is said and done always make choices that whatever the consequences, you would still make again.
one more thing
Treat people like you would like to be treated. don.t crap on people.
Always be willing to say
Always be willing to say your sorry
David
Addition To Deans List
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Greatness is in the Moment: be great every second every moment of the day, and the results will eventually show. Greatness is not when we win the trophy or the award greatness is in the preparation in the commitment in the hardwork and dedication day in day out. Thank you for giving so much Dean, have a blessed life.
Best wishes, Doug
The philosophies are a great idea!
Loved this idea. I've shared many similar ideas with my son, but not so explicitly. Here's one I didn't hear, though you have some that would lead to this:
Things aren't always easy, but when times get hard, just remember to relax and work through it.
One more philosophy
Dean,
Those are some awesome philosophies that I also apply in my own house hold.
A couple more that I teach my kids and live by myself are:
Don't cry over spilled milk.
Don't waste your time trying to fix something that cannot be fixed. Just move on.
my philosophy
always listen never judge
Philosophy
"Open your arms to change...but hang on tight to your values."
Quote By : The Dalai Lama
Philosophies, Love them!!
"Always have God in your heart"
"Beleive in yourself"
"To Change everything, simply change your attitude"
"Dont' judge the process, but do evaluate the result"
Addition to Deans List
A new challenge: First time it might not work out to well, you need to try again, don't give up. It might take sometimes three time until you get it and eventually you will succeed, never give up!
Philosophies
Thank you for the words of wisdom. I would like to add.
Do not fear change for change can be growth.
Life is to short when it
Life is to short when it comes to Family and your Kids. Spend as much time as posible with them before they growup and leave out into the
world on their own to live the life you have raised them to live and then you are all alone.
Addtion
Dont be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try.
add to your list
whatever you think I am or want me to be I am.
I like most of the things you teach Dean your a good guy.
what do you think the bums, the wineo's & the homeless people would think of your list Dean?
if I had any one thing I would make sure my kids understand would be: never smoke, drink or do drugs for fun. just think of the world if everyone followed this rule.
that's why self defense is so important for the simple fact others are going to try to force this crap on your kids & to stop that they must know what to do to take a stand.
Dean , you and your family are really awesome
I would like to add these rules hope they are helpful:
1- we all contribute to making our home a clean, orderly, civilized place to live.
2- we use electronic media only to promote family welfare, never to work against it .
3- we love and honor our creator above all things, we thank him for his blessings and ask his help for our needs and those of others.
4- we respect the rights and sensibilities of others.
5- we give people information they need to carry out their responsibilities.
For Parent & Child
Parent: Always look your child in the eyes and LISTEN! Its amazing what you will learn.
Child: Practice a random act of kindness everyday.
