I read the Blue Print Page #2 section. I began doing the exercises, when I ran right into a wall. I'm sure everyone knows this one --- the fear of stepping out and trying something new.
So instead of finding reason to leave the house today, I set up new email addresses to use for my real estate investing. I remembered reading an article that said Hotmail was no more and was replaced by Outlook. The article was comparing it to gmail and yahoo, but I saw it as an opportunity to get some GREAT email addresses before they were no longer available.
As I set each of these email addresses up, I visualized how they would be used in the future.
... [email protected] ... [email protected]
... [email protected] ... [email protected]
I still look at each of them and remember the feelings I felt as I set them up. I can still recall that sense of accomplishment. I got some of the email addresses I had hoped for and I didn't let fear derail me
Now it was time to take action. I found listings for several real estate agents in the valley. I worked on my script and I was ready ... or at least as ready as I could be.
I felt the terror begin to seep in as I picked up the phone to call the first person. I had to remind myself to breathe. I asked myself "Why are you so frightened?" I have done phone work for the past 20 years. Finally, I made a deal with myself. Since I am ahead of the schedule I set for myself, I only had to call one real estate agency today. I took a deep breath and dialed the number ... but it didn't ring. The phone didn't work. My husband had our cell phone, so I couldn't call anyone.
Now what? Was this a sign? I knew that if I made that first call, then the worst was over. I guess that means that I could call it quits for today. I think not!
Instead I wrote an email message to send to real estate agencies. I pulled my list back up and sent them all to a town that is approximately one hour away. I found the website/contact email information for 11 companies. I pushed down the butterflies in my stomach and one by one, I sent my email to them all.
Will I hear back from any of them? I don't know, but at least I "put my toes in the water." I did something to move forward.
I also got an added bonus. As I went through the listings looking for webpages/email addresses, I discovered there were 2 property management companies, 3 construction companies, and what looks like another real estate investor listed. I moved those names to different files in my document folder for future use. I'll probably need them later.
The phone is working again tonight, but it is almost 9:30PM. That means tomorrow I will call at least 5-10 local real estate companies that are closer to home. My goal by March 5 is to have at least one agent working for me. Now I need to start working on my questions and a way to check off the things I have requested vs. what I get --- and how long it takes to get it.
A neighbor said that I could get a street map of the metro area from the Chamber of Commerce. I'll call them tomorrow and swing by to pick one up while I am out tomorrow.
While I was on the website, I watched the livecast that Dean had recorded with Joe Polish. Although I jotted down a few notes, one thing sticks with me. "People play not to lose vs. playing to win." I realized that I haven't "played to win" for a long, long time. So I'm saying YES ... not No or Maybe! I am playing to win! Just like the last time I "played to win" I will come out on top! I CAN DO THIS and DO IT WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
