I was born in 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas. I have lived in several countries but I am back in Fort Worth at this time. I have lived in London, Glasgow, Scotland, Baja Mexico and Australia.
My life partner is Michael Foltz. We make a wonderful team and I feel very blessed that I am with someone that is my best friend and also my partner in the work arena.
I bought my first home in 1976 when I was 23. I enjoyed watching and helping my father do the maintenance, repairs and add ons to our family home while I was young. I wanted to do things to the places I rented and knew I couldn't.
I still own the house I bought in '76. I have made the basement bigger and finished out what was the attic. I did lots of the physical work. While I really enjoyed doing the work I am finding it just takes me lots longer to get things done. I enjoyed home ownership so much I became a landlord. We have 6 residences and currently have 4 of them rented. Atmos Gas, the local gas provider caused a fire in a duplex and the repairs should be finished by December 2012. Yeah!!
I have one son. His name is Benjamin. He is married with two children. He lives here in Fort Worth, Texas. Michael has a son Peter. He and his family live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His daughter live there as well.
Finances have been a challenge over the last few years. I have been self employed for over two decades. Despite so many saying there were no jobs, I knew I could get a “job” because of my determination to succeed. I was right and had four part time jobs within 2 weeks. I quit two within a week. I worked the other two and I am down to one part time job and look forward to finding someone that wants it. My boss is a caring and considerate person. There is just too little money to be made. I tried to return to wine sales. I enjoyed doing this and I was amazed at the number of people that remembered me and wanted to help me. The bigger distributors did not have any positions available and the company that hired me did not have the brands and inventory needed.
Every time Michael and I would be driving and I would see a great house for sale, I would say I wish I had the money to by more real estate.
Michael received a post card regarding a free Friday night meeting on real estate. When we arrived, at first, I was disappointed to come in and there were just rows of chairs and a snack bar and candy on the seats. It didn’t take long before the disappointment turned into excitement. What a great eye opener.
I have 8 acres in Cottonwood, AZ that has forest service land on two sides. The elevation is so you can see the Red Rocks of Sedona. Very nice homes in the area. I will have this sold as quickly as possible. Any suggestions on making this happen are welcome.
Well enough about me and on to calling buyers and making bandit signs!!
I am grateful for my new family.
Thanks, Gail Carswell
