I keep driving by this empty house that may fit the criteria of one of my buyers. I want to check on it but there is no realtor or FSBO sign. It has a key holder on the front door knob so I'm guessing a realtor had it at one time. There is also no street number on it, or mail box. It borders a small town road and a county highway so i haven't been able to guess. I know it's been empty for a while as saplings are beginning to grow through the front porch. Does anyone have any suggestions on who i might go see to get in and take a look. It seems like a nice house on a nice piece of land. Thanks in advance.

-Now who are you to say it can't be done?-
Find out what street it is on first and foremost. Even if it's out in the country, the new 911 system that they have in place requires that every and all country road be named with a road sign.
Go to your assessor's website and see if you can do a property search on that. Just type in the street name and go from there. Many times assessor's office will have tax information online with a picture of the property. If they have this, they will also have who owns the property and if it's a homestead or not. If it's not a homestead, that means that the owner of the house does not live there. If it is a homestead, that means that at the time of that the property got assessed, that the owner lived there.
Now, go ahead if you have the owners information (name), go to 411.com and do a person search under that name. See if this will pull up a name. You can also try to send a letter to that address. If the owner has a forwarding address, the owner will recieve the letter.
Hope this helps out a little bit....

Failure Is Not An Option
within five minutes of going on the county assessor's site i have a name and the properties address. It was even confirmed with some type of "google" earth type picture. First i went to the general "key map" and found the specific map i needed. Then i found the zone and section off that map, and plugged that info into the assessor's search engine. The property popped up and now i have a place to start. Thanks so much for the help, this was bugging me for three days now.
