Hand writing your letters is a very effective way. They grab the attention of the person reading it. When people defaults their loan, they get a lot of letters and most written in computer, etc. Yours have to be more personal. You can start something like: sorry to hear about your mortgage; I understand the economical situation these days affecting many families; we can help you; and so on...... hope this helps

We only do mailers to people in pre foreclosure if we can't find a phone number for them. We mail and then doorknock them. The least effective way to contact them is a mailer. Personal contact works way, way better.
