Did I do something wrong here?

I sent out an email to my first craigs ad for someone wanting to sell there home. I asked the seller for information and gave my contact info. I gave my name and my website.

Should I not be using the website name until I register it as a business or DBA doing business as. I really don't know if a website can be listed as this. I am confused and wonder if I now did something wrong in not registering? Any advice. I am thinking that I do not need an LLC yet?

Thanks for any help!! Tammy

You're fine

Most arent going to check the authenticity of a website or whether its attached to an LLC or not.

Use the money you make from your deals to fund your paperwork, not out of your pockets just yet.

Elix is correct,

your costs start to be prohibitive in NY to start a business if your operating on a shoestring. Wait to you get a couple of deals under your belt and then revisit the situation.

Is it okay to advertise yourself as being called something like HomeSolutions or (city)RealEstate or some other professional business-like name? Or using a website/facebook/LinkedIn with a business-like name? Or should I be using my personal name until I can afford to start an LLC or Corp?
Thanks, just want to understand how this would work. My dad says we have to use our personal name, because we could be sued for accidentally using a name someone else has already registered.

if you are doing a contract, it is best to use your name and not some fictitious company you would like to open unless it has been confirmed that it is not the ownership of another entity.

You could set up a company for miminal but under your own SSN as DBA, but I would refrain from going to contract if you haven't done your due dili

After having purchased a property, would it be best to transfer the property to a trust with myself as the trustor if I plan on holding the property? I have heard other investors say that is a good thing to do to prevent being sued personally if something happens on your property.
Thanks for your help elixbrown!

Oh Thank you both for your

Oh Thank you both for your comments. I have been flip-flopping on what is right. I did think it is best to get something going, a few houses, and then worry about it like you say. Just wondering if that was okay. Thanks again. Tammy

but do what you can afford first.

It is recommended that you get it under a trust or biz, but its not madatory unless its going to be a renovation. If its a flip, double close, go as is.
