Movie Theater Ads ?

Movie Theater Ads ?

Have any of you thought about advertising in the local movie theater? If you have the fund, I would try it for a month and see where it gets you. You can do 15 sec. slides or short commercial spots or a few other things. It was an idea that popped my head, but when I checked on it, the cost is around $2,800 a month, or if you want it to run longer, you pay more.

This would be another way of thinking a little different.

pretty good thinking there.

those rates are as expensive as a billboard sign, but may be very effective

movie ads are great!

Movie ads do work! Are they more effective than other techniques? No, we haven't found that to be true but if you have the funds then test it and see what results come from it. Any and every form of advertising needs testing. If the results are good then keep doing it!

Good luck!

Just my 5 cents opinion.

It could work depends on what kind of movie and audience. For example Action and Drama will have different audience,... Comedy and Horror, Fantasy and Documentary will have different target of audience. The truth is most of Americans watch TV at home more than in the theater and with internet technology now, people download free movies or watch online at home. I, myself have been to the theater twice this year.

FYI

You can buy a classified ad in your local paper that will run every day for three months for less than $2800. Or you can do a 5,000 piece direct mail campaign for the same price.

Cinema audiences have a young age skew.
"Compared with the U.S. population, cinema audiences are 75% more likely to
be Teens 12-17, and 51% are more likely to be young Adults 18-24."
http://www.adbay.com/downloads/Arbitron_Cinema_Study.pdf
....not exactly home owner age

"With movie theater attendance in the U.S. and Canada down a whopping 20% so far this year compared with 2010, cinema operators and some studio chiefs surprisingly agree on at least one cause: The movies haven't been very good."
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/mar/30/business/la-fi-ct-cinemacon-2011...

....add to that, the people who view your advertising are going to be limited to people willing to shell out $10-$15 to get in the theater to see your advertisement. Factor in the economy and also the fact that theater to dvd release times are getting shorter. A lot of people have some pretty impressive home theater systems and are just waiting for the dvd to come out.

Your advertising dollar....spend it wisely. Just my opinion and I may be wrong.

Movie Ads

Movie ad advertising is very expensive and yes it really does depend on your audience. If you have the funds I would think it would be great advertising, but I like cheap and there is only one thing I like better and that is FREE.

Many other forms of free advertising is: Classified ads, Calling For Rent signs, Calling ads that say: “We buy Houses or “We pay cash for your house”,
For Next to pennies for your marketing dollar: Bandit Signs, Business Cards, Flyers, and Vehicle back window signs.

These are just a few and being consistent is Vidal to any marketing campaign.
Best Wishes

I've always wanted to try

movie theater ads because I always love seeing my company name in big letters. However, when reality set in, we have always fallen back to the old reliable mix of ads: print, mail, web and free. Advertising is no good if it isn't targeted to the right audience.
