OfflineI'm having a hard time deciding if I will use my 24 hour recorded number for my bandit signs or my direct number. The reason is because I noticed a lot of people have called my 1800 number but they simply will hang up after a few mins.
I'm about to purchase some bandit signs and before I waste anymore money on marketing. I want to know from people here what do you have the best experience using? 24 hour recorded scripts or your direct contact number?
The main reason I'm asking this is because I was looking at Greg Murphy talk about his techniques on Gain the edge 10. He claims he uses his direct cell number instead of an automated system. He claims the reason is because nobody wants to listen to an auto responder.
So what do you all think, especially the people here who have already been successful with their marketing. What should I put on my bandit signs, flyers, and business cards?

But seriously, ask yourself if you like to listen to a real person, or an automated message that lasts for more than 10 seconds. Local numbers to a cell phone do the best I hear. Just make sure the cell phone number you use is an anonymous one to avoid fines or worse.
I am having the same issue. I used the phonebooth.com system (havent yet advertised it) just because its free, which works for my budget. But I was also told that the 800 has a tremendous effect on the amount of response. I'm not one to really want to listen to a recorded message, unless I am really interested, and I have before.
So I understand the idea of sift and sort, only the truely motivated seller/buyer will listen to the whole message, allowing you more time to get to the deals. But what about the amount of calls you might miss because they don't want to sit and listen to the entire message?

Alright here is what I will do since I pretty much already ordered my bandit signs with my 1800 number on them. I will have the calls forwarded to my cell at a certain time and the other calls sent to my script at the times I'm not available that way I can test both at once. I pretty much got the idea by reading these comments. I'll post updates on how it went once I start advertising.
good idea. let me know how that turns out. I think I might continue to use my local phonebooth number to see how that works.
