Brad's Journal

Brad's Journal

It's almost 12:30 and time to get some sleep. I started at 8:00 and am so excited and determined to follow the 30-day plan, that I'm trying to get ahead.
So far, the 30-day plan is very aggressive.. lots to do in the first 5 days. Lots of good information there as well. I'm going through the online plan and Dean's new book at the same time. Each reinforces the other, and each has it's own specifics not in the other. Seems like a great way to go.
Good luck to all of you working towards the same goals!

Day 2

I've finished almost everything on "Page 1" of the 30-days to cash blueprint. I had planned to call some real estate agents at lunch today but let my fears stop me. What if they've had these calls before? What if I don't find a good agent? What if someone doesn't like what I'm asking? What if???
It's an unpleasant feeling to know that fear held me back. If I don't do something different, how is anything going to change for the better. I'm tired of living life this way. I can read and watch videos all I want, but nothing is going to happen until I take action.
It's now the start of day 3. I'm going to call at least 1 real estate agent today. I've already watched a couple more videos on totalviewrealestate.com and listened to a mentor call.
It's a new day, and I'm still on schedule as long as I begin to take some action. Tonight, I will post the results of my call.

Day 3

I made the call! Not the result I wanted, but at least I made the call. The result didn't even matter, it was just making the call and not letting fears stop me.
I ended up talking to two different agents. Both did commercial. The second guy took my info to give to the right guy and said he'd call me back. No return call, yet, but neither one of these agents said anything negative when I used Dean's script. Make at least one more call tomorrow.
Spent some more time listening to mentor calls, TVRE videos, and I researched vacant properties I see on my way to and from work every day. I'm going to send a letter to one that has been for sale off and on for the last 3 years. We'll see if they're motivated yet.
Back on track and moving along!

Day 4

Day 4 was a busy work day, and I didn't get to take a lunch. So.. no phone calls.
I did spend a little time in the evening going over "Done for you marketing", reading DG forum posts, and watching more TVRE videos.
I'm going to start on "Page 2" of the 30-dsys..., since I've completed all of page 1 but finding a REA. Got to keep moving.

Day 5

Listened to another mentor call by Skip & Andrea Weule. Lots of great information in this call.
Checked out some more vacant properties I found. It's amazing how many vacant properties I drive by everyday. I drive 7 miles to work, and I have found 8 vacant properties! I never really noticed them before, but now that I'm looking for them, they are easy to find.
I've noticed you can easily get distracted by all of the information available on this site and the rbbp site. Talk about information overload! Getting information from these sites is part of the program, but it's action that creates income. I need to make sure I'm taking action at the same time I'm continuing to learn.

Day 6

Has it really only been 6 days?! Seems more like 10 with all I've been reading, learning, doing.
I'm on to "page 2", days 6-10. Watched the video, read the book chapter, and started the homework. I found 9 real estate investment clubs in my area! I registered for the first available meeting, which is next Thursday. Tomorrow I order business cards and start posting on craigslist, etc.
Having fun, but staying up too late. It's hard to stop with all of the information out there to learn.
Still excited!

Day 7

Life got in the way today... even on Saturday.
I did spend some time going back over what I've learned so far and here on DG.com reading forums.
While I was out, I found two more vacant properties and a couple of homes for rent by owner. Need to call them.
I also posted a "Ghost Ad", although I did not follow the prescribed guidelines. I see I've received one response this morning. I'll follow up when I get home this afternoon.
On to Day 8!

Day 8

Got home in the early evening and didn't do much of anything. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for that. Sometimes, thinking about all of the things I want/need to do freezes me into inaction. Taking any action is the only way to get past this. ACTION is the word for the day on day 9.

Day 9

Lots of studying today. Re-watched "Page 1". Researched the vacant houses I've found. Watched all of the "Lock it Up" videos on the TVRE site. I have a ton of notes, which I got organized. Spent a little more time on my 'why' I'm doing this. One of the great things I got from the replay of one of the 6-hour webcast videos was to face the pain of the unknown instead of the pain of the known. I'm not saying it quite right, but the idea is there. Time to take on the unknown. It can't be worse than familiar pain of remaining where I am now.

Day 12

I did not enter anything for days 10 and 11 as I was beginning to let doubts, fears, life, etc. get in the way. I did find a few more vacant properties. One day, I took a slightly different way home from work and found two more properties. I just haven't done much else, and I was getting a bit depressed.

Fortunately, I had already paid to attend a Real Estate investment club meeting tonight, so I finaally printed up some business cards and went to the meeting. They had a speaker for most of the meeting. Great information there, but not a lot of people saying who they were and what they were looking for. I did speak with and get a card from one investor who I'm not sure is a cash buyer. She is interested in apartment buildings and would be using a partnership to buy. I also won a book as a door prize!

Anyway, I renewed my excitement tonight and am moving forward. Really, it's just doing something a little different every day to get where I want to be.
