OfflineI learned a valuable lesson a long time ago regarding the need to knowing who my neighbors are. As young investor my wife and I lived on a block that was primarily "newly wed or nearly dead." Every one was either young or very elderly. There was not a lot in between.
We got to know our neighbors. As time went by we bought four houses on that block. We were able to obtain owner financing on three of them based on the relationships we had developed.
Eight years later a developer came in and bought up the whole block in order to build an apartment building. We held out and were the very last to sell. It put us in a great position as a young couple.
It all started by taking cookies to neighbors.
