Tell them that you are a real estate investor just getting started, and that you work with other investors, and buyers that are looking for properties, and that they would still get their commission, as you will be paid by your buyers.

I would also recommend that you fill out your biography, so others can know who you are and connect with you. They will take you more seriously if they know who you are. It doesn't matter that you are just starting out. Tammy

How does anyone know where you're from???
I wouldn't recommend telling an agent that you are a newbie, instead tell them that you are "getting started in this area investing and you are looking for a good agent who has experience working with investors."
Also another pointer would be to represent yourself as a "Cash Buyer" and you if the agent asks, you can provide a Proof of Funds with "every offer that I make". With transactional funding lenders out there that allow us to do unlimited cash deals by doing double closings, this makes every one of us true cash buyers. That is important. We need to give the agent a reason, or motivation to work with me, and telling them that I am new and I don't have any resources, doesn't give them the "warm and fuzzy" that they are probably looking for. Try these two simple things and I think you will get awesome results.
Remember: Have confidence! This works! and as always,,,,,,

....and you'll hear only dial tones.
Tell them simply "i'm an investor looking for an agent I can work with"
Most first question is going to be "how long???" and "have you done any deals yet???" which would be followed by the dial tone or "i'll have someone get back to you"
keep it simple and to the point; the more you speak initially the greater your setup to fail
