One way I find them is to go online to our County Registry of deeds and look for the "order of notices". This lists all of the preforeclosures.
I agree for dvisco, the way I've been told to find them without paying a fee to someones service is to go where your county records are kept, depending on your county, and look up "notice of defaults" (sacramento), find where they are at and call or go, they will help you search through them. You could also search online, your county might provide that info online as well. Can Save you a trip

I tried this the sites in my area don't provide this information neither does the court house itself. I tried everything from calling title companies to calling mortgage brokers and every person I called told me they don't provide pre-foreclosure listings to the public. AM I doing something wrong here?
