OfflineHave you ever noticed how many professional athletes decide to sit on the sidelines as soon as they get hurt? Sometimes the injury isn't even very significant. Yet, they are being paid millions every year just to sit on the sidelines.
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned real estate investor--you are still a professional. And I can tell you right now that if you want to win, there will be times when you will need to play hurt. Unlike a professional athlete, when you sit on the sidelines you don't get paid.
The last 3 months of my life have been the hardest months of my real estate career. They have been the hardest because I am pushing myself harder than I have ever pushed before. I am doing more deals every month than I am probably capable of. I am always running out of money because as soon as I create some money I spend it on more properties. There never seems to be enough time in the day--even though I don't have a job, buying 5 properties a month is a full time job. That isn't counting the numerous people I am mentoring every month, taking my free time and spending it on someone else in hopes of changing lives forever. When you help someone and teach them how to make money you are changing lives. At that point in time you have become a winner. A WINNER NEVER KNOWS WHERE THERE INFLUENCE ENDS, IT COULD GO ON FOR GENERATIONS! I'll be honest with you there have been several times in the last few months where I catch myself saying "Oh come on Matt you can slowdown a little know one will ever notice you are letting up, you are pushing yourself to hard. You can take it easy now and enjoy life". Well nobody ever remembers who started the race the fastest, they only remember the winner. It only matters if you finish well! I am telling you to go out there and get it done, and I promise you that I am out there running as hard as I can also. Truthfully I have been hurt several times in the last few months, but I am still in the game because WINNERS PLAY HURT! Get it done!

I, too, have been brought to a low a few times in the last month (personal stuff, NOT REI), BUT you can forgive the person/circumstance that has hurt you and try to make it positive, or you can choose to let it cripple you and just cry and give up. So, if you need to cry (us girls.
) that's OK, but then get mad. Well, not mad, but DETERMINED!!(DG sisters, you know what I mean!!)
Take it from Matt! If you have followed his posts through the months, you know he's honest, ethical, inspiring, and DETERMINED. And we can ALL be that! I have tried to model my REI life after him and Dean and many others I SO look up to here. That is why I am a DG girl all the way, what character this family represents! And a LIFETIME REI! And I hope the rest of the DG family is right there, too! WE CAN ALL SUCCEED! BIG TIME!!!!

I have not been on DG's Site for 1 week, because I too, was playing Hurt on the sidelines. I am having a very hard time forgiving someone who hurt me inside. And for that I put my REI on the shelf. I have not gotten anything accomplished this week, but cry, and feel sorry for myself. Thank you CBR, and Rina for this Post I have made a NEW List of things to do in my REI. I will start checking each one off one by one, and Just Get it done! I am truly greatful for being inspired by both mentors listed above me. Even though we havent met I am blessed by there Wisdom!

Sometimes it is so hard to push yourself just that little bit to get something accomplished when you are "hurt" Whether it was a relationship with a friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, death in the family, or whatever...It is so hard sometimes to just get up and do...Instead, so many people(and I think everyone does this at some point-some more than others-)dwell on the fact that they got hurt...Obviously different occasions take different amounts of healing, but then some people never take that next step after that...They feel to sorry for themselves, and let opportunities pass them...It is such a shame...And not just in this particular business...But everyday life...They miss certain things that could potentially bring them more happiness...Everyone has had it happen...But dealing with painful things in the most positive way you can is how you get to be that better person that most people want to be...Letting whatever it is that "hurt" you kick your butt for a long period of time, is only going to hurt yourself in the end...Staying strong and focused is so hard sometimes, believe me, I get that...I could tell you my whole story and what I have been through, but I don't wanna make it bout that...Just know that staying strong for yourself, the people around you is so important...And always shooting for better is the way to go...It should be the only way...Like I said, in anything you do, whether it is this or something else, staying strong is so important and not letting anything ever beat you and keep you down...ESPECIALLY FOR YOURSELF!!!

Great post! Matt this is a great post. Action + Attitude = Your Ultimate Altitude. Aim to win in life no matter what occurs around. There's a saying that the people perish where there's no vision. Vision yourself a WINNER and you will become a WINNER. Act as one and you will become ONE. Think as one and your thoughts become WINNING thoughts. It's all up to you. Change your thoughts and you can change your life.
That's why I change my name on here. I want all the DG Fam to know that no matter what obstacle arises, I CAN'T STOP and I WON'T STOP! You all should feel the same way.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone! It is so true about playing hurt. We all get hurt from time to time, even Dean has to play hurt sometimes I'm sure.
